Hello Barb, she's not slowed down a bit after 9+. She's weasled my most comfee chair out of me, what next! When should I be introducing another brit into her domain? I'd like to do it before she has to quit hunting with me.

Hi Barbara:
I can't believe that we've had AJ for 3 months already, and yet it seems like he's been part of our family forever. Here are some pictures of him at six months! Isn't he gorgeous? He is a true pleasure, and he has fit into our family perfectly. Hope you enjoy the pictures; sorry I didn't send some sooner.
Kind regards,

Hello Barbara,
Well Annie is now 14 years old (Dec 1). I wanted to give you an update. She is an old girl, but you would never know it. She is still very active, eating well and still getting into a bit of trouble (she has a thing for my important papers…must taste good…lol).
Her health is 100%. She had to have a few teeth removed, but beyond that, she is still going full tilt. People ask how old she is, and when I say 14, they can not believe it. Her health is perfect, and she still acts like a 5ish old. Still very independent, she knows she is a champ, and lets all else know it (including me…lol).
Dakota is great too. The sweet heart of my building. She is 12 now, but again, no health issues, and still plays like a puppy.
We had move to a COOP right in the heart of downtown Toronto. But beside us is a park with a ton of dogs. A 5 min. walk is Allan Gardens where there is an enclosed dog area with a dog pool. My park, just outside my door has a dog water fountain.
I am sending some photos. A can not believe I have Anne for 12 years now…. Time does not stop. But Anne is healthy, active and still gets into her share of ‘trouble’ But that’s a dog, my Annie. Attached are a few photos of Annie. Thank you for her, she is so special to me.

Hi Barbara,
I'm sorry it's taken us so long to email you pictures but
here's our Babbit. He's grown a lot more since those photos
were taken in fact and we love him so much, as does everyone
who meets him.
To update you on our lives, my husband and I live close to
the Beaches area in Toronto still and we take Babbit there
almost everyday, either running with me or walking. We also
take him canoeing a fair bit, or as often as we can get up
north ourselves. He's an incredible long distance swimmer
as I've come to find and so great in the canoe and on portages.
Babbit is so kind that the other day I went out into our backyard
to find the neighbours kittens had crawled through our fence
and Babbit was laying down with them all over him carefully
licking them and cleaning their ears. Now a bird would probably
be a different story, however.
We couldn't imagine our lives without him and so I can't thank
you enough.
Warmest Regards,
Kathryn Ruppert-Dazai
Hi Barbara,
I just wanted to send you another picture to show you how
much Babbit has grown since the last photo I sent. And tell
you that all of us are doing really well. This is one of him
on our land in Apsley, Ontario, he's covered in burrs in this
photo (as always) but since he's in the woods he couldn't
be happier! Thanks again Barbara and I hope you have a grrrrrrrreat
summer!
Heart,
Kathryn Ruppert-Dazai |

Hi Barbara,
It has been some time since I e-mailed you...but with working
and spending time with Blaze the time just seems to go...
It went very well at puppy school and we gained some valuable
information so we are enrolling Blaze in Grade 1...he really
seems to like the interaction with the other dogs and it enables
him to be around children and other adults...Blaze sits on
command, down and stand...
He also shakes a paw...something he picked up at home was
to fetch a toy or ball that I throw and return it to me and
drop it. Blaze is 4 months old today (counting each Thursday
from the day he was born)
Oh yeah I meant to mention how well behaved he is when we
have our meals in the kitchen he learned not to jump up on
us and he now just lays on the floor till we are finished...this
carried over well when we were eating on the run in the truck..he
just stayed in the back seat..
Look forward to hearing from you

Good afternoon Barbara,
I have to say e-collar had worked a miracle
with Bosco! She has always known what “here” means,
she has often chosen to ignore it when off leash (which has
been almost never, such a shame) except in the backyard. Now
with the help of e-collar she always returns whether she is
wearing the collar or not when called. Honestly it took us
two weeks to take the collar out of the package because we
didn’t have the courage to try it, we didn’t want
to hurt her, but it was so easy. And since you recommended
it, we trust you. She has only needed a few taps (level 2),
and now when we work on her training we only use “tone”.
I now feel confident we can release her at the cottage and
she won’t get lost. I am so happy and relieved she finally
listens! Thank you for the advice. Now she is the perfect
dog!
Sincerely,
Sharon Pece

Hello Barbara:
I hope you are enjoying the summer. I thought that I would
send you some more recent photos of Brady. He is a wonderful
dog! Brady and I have had a great summer so far. Brady has
been canoeing and camping and generally enjoying the outdoors
to the fullest. He is also a very popular little guy - everyone
who meets him loves him.
I can't believe that Brady will be a year old next month.
He has been such a joy.
Best regards,

Barb,
Here are a couple of puppy shots of brie for your scrapbook..She is doing fine and we are settling into a routine now…She LOVES the puppy growth recipe! I made a batch and portioned it up into little servings to freeze and take out when I need it..I mix it with a bit of kibble and she just gobbles it up…. Thanks again and we’ll keep you updated on her progress..First vet visit tomorrow!
Kevin J
From the time we brought Brie home with us we knew she was going to be a special pup. Being our second Brittany we were ready for the high energy level and took full advantage of her eagerness to learn. Barbara did an exceptional job preparing her for her trip home and In the 4 short weeks we have had her, she has learned to go to the door and let us know when she needs to go out and has also mastered the “Come and Sit” command. Not bad for a pup that’s not quite 12 wks old!
We have modified her raw diet slightly but for the most part she is thriving on the meals we prepare using the recipes Barbara sent home with us…. Thank you once again for raising such wonderful dogs!

Hello,
A little over a year ago I picked up my little girl at Barbara's
home in Markdale, and the adventure has never stopped. Bryer has
a great amount of energy so we take her to the bush daily for her
hour or more run. She enjoys hunting as much as any dog could ever
possible want. At twelve weeks old I started her hunting and she
put up ten partridge on her first weekend and has improved greatly
with age. She also makes a great house pet, very loving, but a little
spoiled. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Barb for
a great pet but more a great companion in the bush.

Hello,
Im just e-mailing you to let you know Cassia is marvelous. She goes
outside to pee ( no accidents in the house yet) she loves her crate
and she is very easy going so far. We have a little bit of a nipping
problem but she is catching on that kisses are better. She is very
smart. Anyways thank-you for raising a wonderful puppy. She is one of
my joys of my life. Take care.

Hi Barbara:
I thought that you might like to hear an update on how Ceilidh is doing. She has had a busy summer so far. We have been to Nova Scotia, attended a Puppy Party, and have had a housefull of guests. She is getting many opportunities to socialize and everyone she meets says what a beautiful and pretty dog she is. House training was a breeze, she is so smart that she catches on to things very fast. We just love our Ceilidh. She is the perfect example of what a Brittany should be. She is very smart, agile and lovely. We are still working on the biting issue but she is coming along. Our other Brit, Sam enjoys playing with her but I am still waiting for him to correct her when she bites him. He is too nice to her. Here are some pictures. As you can see she is growing! We start obedience training in the fall and I want to do agility training too. I think that Ceilidh will be great at agility as she is so fast and agile. She has no fear of anything. I hope you are enjoying your summer and that everything is well with you and all your dogs.
Take care.

Hello Barbara,
Summer is sooo crazy around here but took a lot of pictures of Charlie
Girl. She's growing like a weed. She's a good girl. Sleeps her 8
hour straight, eats good, loves to play and chase our 3 cats. She
loves to fall asleep on our laps at night - after our long walk
through a field which includes visiting the neighbour's dog for
playtime - then a quick wash of the feet and on to mommy's or daddy's
lap. It's now quite a routine and she looks
forward to it.

Hi everyone,
We made it home with our precious bundle of joy yesterday. It went
extremely well. We only had to stop once for Chelsea, if fact, we
had to stop more for the kids than the puppy. So far, there have
been no messes in the house and she’s had been very well behaved.
She only cried for about 10-15 minutes when we put her down for
the night and only woke up once at about 2AM. After she had a quick
pee she was back in her crate and asleep within about 15 minutes.
Marian’s pretty happy about that. It has been less than 24
hrs so we’ll see how things progress. At this point, we (even
Ross) are just happy to finally have her home after such a long
wait.
Hope we see you all very soon,
Marian

Dear Barbara,
I thought I'd wait a couple of days before emailing you just so
that I could speak with some certainty about what it's like having
Dijon here with us.
To put it as succinctly as possible, the question we have asked
ourselves is: "How was Barbara able to save the best puppy
'til the end just for us?"
We are extremely happy with the personality of Dijon and with the
excellent training as a house / family pet that you instilled. We
have been following your routines. She calls to be let out of her
crate to pee around 6:30 in the morning. There have not only been
no accidents inside the house, but Dijon only wants to pee outside.
She devours her chicken back and neck in about 10 to 15 minutes
each morning. She plays energetically with us for a couple of hours
and then naps. She'll have one more play / training period and another
nap. We wake her around 5 for dinner and a couple of hours of play
and training outside. Then another nap, pee around ten, and then
down for the night. She is very comfortable in her crate with her
stuffed animal, although she needs to have a small fan on to cool
her off and help settle her down when she first comes in.
The training part is mostly about not jumping up, not biting, and
not leaping full tilt into Gloria's gardens! Dijon is a bit more
boisterous with our daughters Danielle and Denise. They are quickly
learning to be more firm with her and what strategies work best
with their personalities and voices. Gloria and I have over 30 years
in the classroom and a couple of decades as parents, so our experience
and instincts have helped a lot. Dijon is fairly calm around us.
We have not yet been able to find a source of knuckle bones, but
the hunt continues. In the meantime, we found a few beef soup bones
in the freezer. The bones are about the size of a small tea cup.
Dijon loves gnawing away at the raw bone and working out the marrow.
I have attached a few photos from Dijon's first days here. I hope
you enjoy them.
In closing I want to express our great joy with Dijon. She is turning
out to be everything we hoped for in this first experience of having
a dog in our family. She is a loveable dog. We foresee lots of activity,
challenges, fun, and love with her down the road. We are convinced
that a Brittany was the best choice for us.
We believe that what you have accomplished as a breeder is a tribute
to you, your efforts, your patience, and your commitment to what
is best for these special animals. We will be grateful to you always
for the gift that Dijon is to us.
Thank you most sincerely from all of us.
Dan Nazar, Toronto ON.

Hello Barbara,
We are still enjoying everything about Duchess. She is so much fun. The kids love to play and snuggle with her, and she seems to fit in perfectly with our family. One question I have is about her eating her own poop. I know a lot of puppies do this, but what can we do to stop it. Why do they do it too. It's so nasty.Anyways here are some pictures. Thanks again for all you've done.
Amy Miller
The only way I know of to stop this is to get there first! This is something that dogs don't, haven't figured it out yet myself, you're right, it's nasty. |

Hi Barbara,
Just wanted to let you know how we are doing with our new addition,
Echo. She is 15 weeks now and is growing so quickly, seems bigger
every time we look at her!
We must thank you for your early housetraining regime as she has
had only a few accidents and none for a few weeks. She even goes
on command now! She is doing great with the crate training and has
been sleeping through the night since 9 weeks old. She enjoys her
long walks in the morning and evening and we have found a great
field near us where she loves to chase butterflies and birds, giving
her lots of exercise.
We have had her up to all three of our cottages already and she
loves to be up in the woods. She likes paddling in the shallow water
more than swimming but is a good swimmer when she does it. She loves
boat rides and canoe rides too!
Hope everything is going well with you and the dogs and you are
enjoying your summer.
Sincerely,
Linday and Matt Pozza (and Echo!)

Barbara:
Please find attached several pictures of our "Elle" often
called Ellie, Miss Ellie, Ellie-May and occasionally a few other
things! Ellie's mom was "Annie Get your Gun" and her father
"Scout" and she has been with us since she was 8 weeks
old and she will be 11 years old in July of this year (2006).
We think she has had a great life to date and remind her that
she can thank her not-perfectly-matched butt that she came to live
with us. If you may recall, she was not the pup we had picked originally
but as we did not intend to show our dog you asked us to take her
instead. I wonder sometimes how the other little girl made out it
in her career, however we would not trade our pooch.
Ellie certainly likes to perform regardless of her markings. She
is a very beautiful girl and people still mistake her for a puppy
even though she is not as wild as she was in her younger days! She
looks forward to her daily one hour run in the conservation area
north of our city. In the attached photos she is playing in the
fields at my parents farm.
It is nice to see the pictures of all the other Brittany pups
along with their stories.

Hi Barbara,
We wanted to share with you some pictures of Emma (now 9 months) on our outing to Bronte Creek Provincial Park a few weeks ago. Emma turns into a different dog when she is out enjoying nature and literally springs up and down through the tall grasses. Emma has been so easy to train, and is such a wonderful companion that we enjoy taking Emma along where ever we go. She has been adopted by most of the tenants in our building, and considers their apartments home as well. We have been complimented by her vet, the dog walkers that come when we are working and even by passers-by on the street on her temperament, her lovely stride and her markings. Considering the large amount of families with dogs in our neighborhood, it is surprising how much attention she attracts. We will be moving next month in to a home of our own and Emma will have a large backyard to romp in.

Hi Barbara,
Emma will be one in Sept- time sure has gone by fast. Chris and I just wanted to write to let you know that our Emma has grown into a most sensitive and gentle friend/companion. We are so proud of her. We just recently moved out of Toronto to Pickering and into our own home with a backyard- she loves lying out under the apple tree gnawing on her meaty bones. Emma was signed up for agility class this month and she was a natural- she knew what to do with little prompting. Emma gets walks on the beach almost everyday and she's an excellent swimmer. She loves to fetch sticks from the water. Here are some pictures of our little girl that we wanted to share with you. Hope everything is well with you!
All the best, Angie & Chris

Hi Barbara
Sorry it has taken me so long to send some pictures of Faith. I guess I just don't take the camera out enough. Please see attached. I also wanted to tell you that I have recently adopted a little girl. Her name is Claire, she was born on May10th, 2006. Claire and Faith are getting along really well. When we are out on walks Faith won't let other dogs get anywhere near the stroller, it's cute. Claire shares her Cheerios with Faith as payback. I am off work until Jan2008, so spending lots of time with Claire and Faith.
Bye for now C. |

Hi Barbara
Just wanted to give you a little progress report on "Farley"
- What a sweetie he is !! He is SOoooo relaxed and good-natured
! - has adapted really well to EVERYTHING !!
WE MUST GIVE A LOT OF CREDIT TO GOOD BREEDING AND TLC in his early
weeks !!
The drive home was NO problem - he whined and yelped a bit for only
about 30 sec.and then went right to sleep. We stopped a few times
to let him pee - he even tolerated a collar and leash with NO PROBLEM
- just prancing along like he'd done it before ! (We couldn't chance
anything along roadways !!!)
We made another stop at Oakville where we went to a pet store to
pick up a nice bed for him and some toys - then for a short visit
to my sister's in Oakville. Her 5 yr. old grand-dtr. was there,
so Fraley met a new group of people and loved Rianna, cuddling up
to her on the grass the whole time !
When we got home we took him on a little tour of the ground floor
of the house then out to the back garden where he romped and played
for a long time. He was a bit slow to eat his dinner but I guess
with all the excitement of the day & newness of everything that
was pretty normal ?
He slept like a charm in his crate all night (with only one toilet
trip - at OUR request, not his !)
My son's girlfriend came over today to meet him (bearing MORE doggie
toys ! - he's getting spoiled already !)
AND I have to tell you that you were R-I-G-H-T .the empty coke bottle
IS THE best toy ever !!!!!
Dave & I wear leather mocs around the house so Farley chases
our laces as we walk !! He's hilarious !
As I type this he is snuggled beside me - there is a huge thunderstorm
and he hasn't even flinched ! (maybe those fears come later ??)
Anyway, we're both learning to walk with our legs astride (haha)
! ...and REALLY ENJOYING the experience. I KNOW it's just the 1st
day but I think if we try to do all the "right things"
and maintain patience and a sense of humour we're in for a lot of
fun (MOST of the time !)
We'll keep in touch ! AND I will send you some photos once I figure
out HOW to hook up my camera to the computer etc.!!! (I need a 'puter'-tutor
!!!)
Farley says: "Hi and I miss you, but I think I like it here
so far" !!!! Marcelle & Dave (Fonthill)

Freckle is doing great.
She is very active and is growing like a weed. She has learned to
run with me on the bike and does a great job of staying about 5
feet to my left! She seems to really like it and is great exercise
for both her and me. I can see I will be in much better shape soon!!
At the cottage she gets to run free which of course she loves. She
is already in obedience classes and is doing quite well. The trainer
is amazed at how focused she can be for a puppy in a class of 8
dogs So far she hasn't chewed on anything that she isn't suppose
to, well other that the odd sock or my sandal which seems to be
the only shoe she is interested in! Anyway, we are really enjoying
her.

Hi Barb:
It has been a long time but we wanted to tell you that after more than 15 years (birth: April 29, 1992) our wonderful Gingersnap was laid to rest on May 21, 2007. Her mother was your Patches. She lived a long, wonderful, exciting life with us. Never was there a dog more loved and well taken care of than our Gingy- our son came along 9 years ago and because he's our only child, Ginger became his big "sister". She was a great family dog, and a good hunter (although Mario didn't get her out as often as he'd have liked) and had an amazing personality. Until about 8 months ago she would still fetch a ball and play and get in her 'pouce' position with her butt sticking up in the air. We would laugh and laugh. She spent summers running free through the bush at our cottage and going for "walkies" on the beach of Georgian Bay - she went everywhere with us and our families both adored her. We will all miss her very much. I've attached a few photos of her taken in the past year so you can see what she grew to look like. What an amazing dog. We will always be grateful to you for giving us the privelege of being her parents. Thank you.
Kindest regards, Liz, Mario & Tristan Conti |

Hi Barb
Just thought I would send you an update on little Gloria. Our trip home on Saturday was uneventful. She is asking to go outside and follows us around constantly. Dobby is being patient and they are not left alone. After all it is his chair he has to share. She is into everything so we have to keep watch. She doesn't like to negotiate the stairs inside (we have a 2 storey) so we have baby gates up but she does fine outside from the back deck. Today she met her new vet and everyone loved her. I have begun pet insurance on her as well. She is trying really hard to get used to her new home. We are keeping her busy, lots of car trips, ball chasing and so on. She has been objecting to being put in her crate for about 5-10 minutes. Today we went away for an hour or so. We got home and she was a calm as could be so she was allowed out to see everyone. I think she will be fine before long. She is very, very alert and happy all around I would say. We got the sheddng brush for Dobby and it has worked great, thanks for that bit of advice. I also trimmed Dobs ears but people still think he's a springer. That's it for now and thanks for giving us another wonderful pup!! I am including a picture of the 2 on Dobby's favourite chair.
Regards,

Hi Barbara,
Just a quick note to keep you up to date on Hunter’s newest
hobby, surfing, yep you heard right surfing. He has no problem getting
on the board, but he does have a hard time finding the big waves
:)
Taker Care,
the Klukes (Tamara, Robyn, Shauna, Rob and the surfing Brittany---
Hunter)
11/28/06
The two of them are getting along quite well,
and of course once again you were right, Hunter is doing most of the
training and suffering most of the pain of those sharp little teeth as I
am continually amazed that Hunter can be so patient with her, when she
continually bites him all the time.
She is growing leaps and bounds, you really notice it in her legs now.
You will notice that I have started the retrieving training early with
her, she has taken to the duck chew tow very nicely,
actually she just carries it around everywhere, at least it isn't bigger
than her anymore.
How are things with you, and when do we start showing this little
bundle, after 8 months or so?
Talk to you soon, and take care.

Just a quick note of appreciation
for breeding such beautiful, intelligent and enjoyable dogs as our
Jasper. Our girls all adore him, my husband loves having another
male around, & he's my running companion (we go out on 45 min.
runs 4 time a week in the woods, he just loves it as do I). And
of course, he's off the leash in the woods.
He has a great temperament, he really fits into our family well,
and he's so cute!!

He is so good natured and learns quickly, he is a pleasure to

training, as you indicated “your puppies know what the grass
is for”. At the cottage we rarely tie him up, he stays close
and routinely checks on us to ensure that we are still close by.
We are certainly enjoying him.
Best regards,

Hi Barbara,
Thought you might want to see some pictures of Jethro at 11 weeks taken on the weekend at Woodbine Beach and Ashbridges Bay. He is getting a lot bigger and still having lots of fun playing and training.

Hi Barbara,
Hope you had a very Merry Christmas and best wishes for a Happy New Year!
I just thought I would send you a couple of pictures of Jinjer now that she reached her 6 months birthday on December 22.
She is a joy and a handful all at the same time. Thank you for giving her to us!

Hi Barbara,
I just wanted to thank you for raising such a wonderful pup, Kim
and I are having such an amazing time with him. Now at 19 weeks,
Joey is doing extremely well and is a great pup (other than his
sock obsession:o). He puts a smile on my face all the time and continues
to amaze me everyday with how smart he is. Today we had a big snowfall,
and all he wants to do is be outside in it playing, which is prefect
for tiring out a puppy. When we brought Joey home for the first
time, we were amazed at how he was already housebroken! Thanks for
that! We really appreciate the natural methods you introduced us
to - Joey continues to eat his raw chicken every evening and LOVES
it more than anything.
Happy Holiday's and all the best in the New Year.
Cheers,
Heather, Kim and Joey, Milton, Ont.

Here is the latest offering of Kasey
and Bunker together. They really have taken to each other. They
play well together (despite some roughhousing) and Kasey follows
Bunker around like she's her mother. I have a sense that he knows
that they are related. I have enrolled Kasey in obedience classes
although I think that the classes are really
for me!

Kenzie is such a joy to have around. She is fitting in just fine. Thank you for all the extra work you put into her. I know that is a big part of her being so easy to train. We are working on the basics right now and we will attend an obedience class when she gets older.
She is a very well adjusted pup. She gets so many comments on how beautiful she is. I love her markings and how expressive her face is. She may have been part of an unplanned litter, but I couldn't have asked for a better dog.
09/07/06
Hi Barbara,
I thought I should give you an update on how Kenzie is doing. She is now three years old and is well settled in our family. She definitely keeps us entertained! I sent pictures of her two favourite things; swimming and hunting. I bought an e-collar for her two years ago and it has been a blessing (Every Brittany should automatically come with one). It is great to keep her within a safe distance and to call her off skunks and porcupines! Thanks for the wonderful companion, she is everything we were looking for in a dog. I hope all is well with you and your crew.
Best Wishes,

Dylan and I are thrilled with Kinsey - she has a wonderful, cheerful and brilliant personality and enjoys every moment - these pictures are from tonights walk - she is loving living in caledon with all the woods and ponds for her to patrol. We still wonder about getting a second puppy so would be happy to hear about future litters.... We'll start some basic hunting lessons in the late summer - although she seems to know an awful lot about it already... Tuukka is also doing well and is presently at his "summer place" in Haliburton with mom and dad.
Best wishes, Kelly and Dylan
Hi Barbara - Happy New Year. I thought I'd send you a couple of pictures of Kinsey and Tuukka. Kinsey is a delight and is slowly outgrowing the puppy stage and becoming more calm although she certainly has bursts of madness. She loves to be outside and has taken very well to our "invisible" fence system. She gets hours of walks around the ski club a day and her hunting instincts are quite impressive.
I hope you and your dogs are well - we'd still be interested in getting a second puppy if you have any litters planned.
Thanks for our lovely dogs, Kelly Williams Pannell |

Hi Barbara;
We thought we would send a couple of pictures along of Lily as she
approaches 5 months. It is hard to believe she is that old already.
She has been a great addition to our family. She is very active
(surprise!! Ha Ha) and she is getting lots of good exercise, as
are we. Lily is very smart, most times she is two steps ahead of
us and keeps us thinking all the time. We just love her. I think
she will be an excellent agility dog.

Dear Barbara,
Time passed and i never sent you a pic of Luna (or did I???). As I see
them I already miss her as a puppy . As you can see she's grown and
looks more like a young lady than a puppy. She does behave like a puppy
though. This too shall pass. She is well known and liked in the
neighbourhood.
When will she reach her final size? I love to see her trot and run she
looks absolutely beautiful.
Thanks again and hope all is well.

Merry Christmas Barbara!
Here is Luna as we found her after leaving a package of toilet paper unattended. She is doing fine and is loved by all. Still she has such a nose for the wild life around us.

She now has 5 acres to roam istead of two- just bulit a new house- we use a collar for her with a one mile range - she responds to a beep which is nice- lots of bears and wolves so it is good to have her responding to it
fishing is her other hobby-she prefers the big boat-roams all day.

Hi Barbara,
I can't believe we haven't emailed you since we picked up our little Maggie, but I think of you often and wanted to let you know that Maggie is doing great and we are having so much fun together. Attached are a few recent pictures. We went up to the cottage this weekend and she sure does love to swim! We take her mountain biking with us and she gets so excited when she sees us getting the bikes out, she can't wait to run! She absolutely loves her frisbee too! She is doing very well with her training (k9 wolfman ~ Mike Martin) and is almost at graduation I think. I hope you enjoy the photos!
Take care, Julie, Ian & Maggie |

hi Barbara... just a quick note to say that Marshall
is doing great. It's hard to believe we have had him for over 6
weeks. Don't worry about the rawhide you saw in our last photo...
it was only in it for the benefit of the person who gave it to us
as we sent them the photo too... we don't let him have rawhide...
and he loves the soup bones.
Hope all is well with you... the Swansons.

Hi Barb!
Really long time. Too long!
How is life?
Today is Merlin’s 11th birthday! He is wonderful and we love him more every day.
HUGE coincidence... we had a lady over here for a business meeting a few days ago and she took one look at Merlin and said “I have one of those at home!”.
Turns out she has KC – son of Annie – not quite one year older than Merlin. Looks a bit more like Tess down the street here but a huge resemblance to Merlin.
Merlin and KC are cousins as Annie is Blaze’s sister.
Is there anything that you can suggest for aging Brittany doggies? Merlin is 11 – very spry but occasionally showing his age just slightly. Mostly in his look. We are still battling the lumps and bumps from the mold in our house and that last Rabies shot he got all those years ago – but other than that he is.. we.. Merlin.
Please keep in touch and let us know what’s new in the life of Barbara and the family and doggies!
Love Cori, Eddie, Lindsay & the birthday boy. |

Tony and I wanted to thank you,
first of all for our wonderful puppy (hardly a puppy any longer)
and also your Christmas newsletter.
I must admit, for the first couple of weeks after we brought Millau
home in August, we were afraid we were in over our heads! He is
our first dog so we weren't quite prepared for the biting, barking,
and house-training headaches. But we've come a long way since then.
In December, at 5 months old, Millau graduated from Grade 1 obedience
school at the top of his class (see the attached photo with his
graduation hat). He even placed first in a competition with 10 other
(older) dogs to see which had the best sit-stay. In the final round
of the competition, there were 4 people trying to entice him to
break his sit-stay by waving food and toys right under his nose,
but Millau never moved - we were very proud. :)
We'd love to attend your get together/reunion, if possible. Keep
us informed. I hope all is well with you. We'll be sure to let you
know when we are ready for another Brittany!
All the best,
Soo

Hi Barbara - Bruce Laforce in Ottawa
(Nepean) Ontario and I got a
pup from you about 4 and a half years ago (Hidden Creek's Opal Queen).
Opal gives us such pleasure. She personifies joy when running the
yard first thing in the morning and total comfort when she's stretching
in her bed in the evening. We wanted a dog with an enjoyable personality
and that's what Opal has, by the truckload.
Opal has been a lovely dog with a wonderful personality, once she
stopped treating feet going down the stairs as perfect playthings.
We found having two dogs great; certainly having Opal in the house
when we came back from the Vet (after loosing Brandi) was a real
consolation. All of which is to say, we will be looking for another
dog, preferably from Hidden Creek, sometime in the course of the
next year or so.

Hi Barbara,
I have attached a little blurb about Ozzy that you can add to the pictures I have sent you. That is wonderful you are putting his picture on your web site. We like to show him off he is such a nice dog. That was some professional pictures my father in law took of him, he is a photographer. I am glad you like them. He is truly amazing with our children we have a 3 year old boy and a 2 month old baby and he just loves both of them. We may consider getting another Brittany and if we do we won't go any where else except to your kennel. It is quite obvious you are in it because you love it. Thank you for putting his picture on our website we will be looking for it.

Yesterday was Pekoe’s birthday. Time has
gone by so fast! We’re really enjoying her, and she has a
pretty good life here … lounging on couches, sleeping on beds,
playing with the kids, etc.
She is a different dog from our other Brittany; it’s like
having 2 kids with different personalities.

Hi Barbara,
Sorry i has taken us some time to get back to you. It took us almost a month to think of a name for our puppy. Finally her name is Phoebe. We are absolutely in love with Phoebe and we find she really has some similarities with our beloved Watson (her half-uncle). This is a really great line of Brittanys. As we've seen other Brittanys, but they just didn't have the sparkle of Watson, our old dog, and Phoebe. She has a spunky playful character and though she's small she has no trouble at all standing up to bigger dogs. She has quite the little character and is definitely wise. It took only a little over a week to toilet train her and then she was asking for the door without fail. We’re anxious to start training her to point and hunt with the our falcons. And as you can see from the pictures she is great with our little (now) 7-month-old Clara and seems to know almost instinctively to be gentle with her. Clara loves her puppy as well and I’m sure they’re going to be best friends.
Thanks!

Hi Barbara,
Hope your summer is going well.
I just wanted to send you a little update of how Ranger is doing. He has been part of our family for more than 2 months now. I can't believe how much he has grown - he is approx. 22 pounds now, much bigger than the 8.5 pounds that he was at 8 weeks!
We continue to feed him a raw diet and he loves it! He eats everything in 5 minutes maximum. In the morning, he eats either beef, lamb, or chicken patties with the bone ground in, seeds, grasses, and herring oil. At night he has his chicken necks or a combination of chicken necks with wild sockeye salmon, sardines, or tripe all with fresh vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, parsley, cilantro, carrots, peppers, cucumber, tomatoes, lettuce, basically whatever we are eating) or some fruit (apples, berries, pineapple, papaya, peaches, etc.). I mix in a little kelp and some herring oil as a supplement. Because of the diet, his coat is so soft and shiny. Ranger is the most popular dog on the street and everyone thinks he is so cute with beautiful markings (it's true!). He is also very agile and is the fastest dog in his puppy socialization classes. I think he will be a great agility dog in the future. So far he has already passed Grade 1 obedience and will be going to Grade 2 clicker training next week.
He is getting better at not nipping, but we are still working on that. As well sometimes he has a problem barking very loudly in the crate when he's not sleeping in it. I bought a crate cover so hopefully that will help with that behaviour. I was wondering when is the best time to get him neutered? Also, would you recommend microchipping him?
Hope your dogs are doing well.
Here are some pictures of Ranger when we first took him home and the rest are more recent
Take care,
Jocelyn

Barbara,
Just a quick note to let you know how Oh Reilly is doing and have added a quick pick of her lounging pool side. Looking at the pictures you sent us of Spice, Reilly is a spitting image of her Mom.
Reilly has been an absolute pleasure to have as part of our family. Her temperament is so wonderful and she enjoys everyone’s company including all humans, dogs, and cats she may encounter. She has two younger brothers (cats) that she looks after and plays with. She is gentle with our four young kids and enjoys romps in the yard with them. At almost 4 years of age she has not slowed down one step.
Thank you again for Reilly.
Best Regards,

Hi Barbara,
Thank you for Just Paws and your Christmas wishes. It was a great
read and our whole family loved it. My kids especially like "Things
Dogs Have to Remember".We have been extremely happy with Rigby

pup with lots of personality and I've lived vicariously through
her sprinting and spring. She is truly a thing of beauty to behold
when running free.

Hi Barbara
Hope you are doing well. We think of you often. It will be a year
on Sunday since we picked up Riley. We can't believe how fast it
has gone. I am enclosing a picture we took on his birthday, March
30th.
Riley is such a friendly and busy guy. He loves playing with other
dogs and he enjoys walks, car rides and has really got into gardening
this spring. We should have known the day we picked him up and he
came around the corner of the house with a tulip in his mouth. Thank
you so much for such a wonderful addition to our family. We think
that he will soon need a sister.

Dear Barbara,
I am an old man now and have finally slowed down at 11½ years old. We enjoy your website and think you should have a senior doggy section. I was wondering if you could tell me the names Riley’s puppies in case there are any pictures we could see them in. He is the greatest dog and has an unnatural passion for chasing squirrels. Our sixteen year old cat still keeps him in line and he is completely devoted to our kids Stacey 2½ and Chris 7. He doesn’t pull so hard on the lead anymore so Chris can have a turn walking him and he seems to know when Gramma is holding the lead and doesn’t even try to pull despite all the cool smells.
I have attached Riley’s finishing photo and a recent photo for you. Thank you again for sharing your passion with us, we are hooked for life.

Dear Barbara,
Robbie is a little over 3 months now and really growing fast. Thank
you so much for him. He has such a pretty face, and I love his freckles.
Everyone in our family loves him, and so does everyone he meets.
He loves other dogs, and all dogs, some cats, and our bunny really
like him. (I think he'd bite the bunny though). He knows no, sit,
lie down, and sometimes come here. He is very thoughtful and sits
and watches and listens to any strange sounds even on the middle
of his walks. He is also very bossy, and talks back a lot if we
say no. When he gets tired, he literally goes berserk. He runs around
and tries to nip us and starts playing really roughly. We have to
time him out in his crate, and he'll usually go right to sleep.
I guess he's just like a little kid. I have a funny picture of Robbie
but no picture which shows off how pretty he is with his cute freckles.
He got his head stuck in the top of the bathroom waste paper basket
and went walking around unconcerned about it.

We have been taking Ruger out hunting over the past
few months, he has been hunting chucker and doing really well! The
last hunt we decided to hunt him on pheasant HE WAS AWESOME ! (
This was the day we got the photo). Hunting is his passion, he shakes
from excitement when he gets out of the truck and realizes the fun
is about to begin!
Ann has been an amazing trainer, we are going to continue with
her when the nice weather is back. I think we are planning, If I
am not mistaking to have Ruger try for his FD this year.
Ruger is a handful, through a contact of Ann we got him into a
good obedience class which we started a couple weeks ago (he was
in one previously but I was not happy with their methods) The trainers
here are amazing they know their stuff after the first class they
pretty much analyzed Ruger to a T. I have to do things a little
differently with him, I am proud to say after just 2 weeks he walks
beside me on lead with no struggle each and every time I stop he
automatically sits on my left and waits for my instruction. The
instructors are very impressed!!
Barbara it is so nice to know that if we have a quick question
or concern your door is open so to speak, and that the day we picked
up our puppy wasn't/wouldn't be the last contact we have with you.
Your support has been appreciated!
Ruger turned 1 year Jan 1st and we celebrated with a little cake,
YES! Thank you so much for our little man!!!! Have a Fantastic Day
and if his picture appears in the mag I will be sure to let you
know!!

Good morning Barbara,
Sitting here with a very audacious dog chewing a bone at my feet looking up saying “lets go for a run”. Man Savanna has a lot of energy and we love it!
Life with the pup is great. She is full of mischief but is responding to training well. We take her every weekend to our cottage for three days where she is off leash 100% of the time and has become very comfortable in the woods and the water. Two weeks ago she came tearing around a corner on a dirt trail and came face to face with a baby dear that was just bigger than her. She stood and stared and eventually chased it into the woods where she then met the mother… she high tailed it out very fast! Last week she did the same thing but met a groundhog that stood and did a stare down for about 5 minutes. Adorable. We took your advice and bought an e-collar with a 1000m range and it adds a lot of security to the situation when you have a dog with an obsessed nose like hers. We haven’t spayed her yet… I would love to breed her but Shauna is hesitant on how it would work etc. When should she go into heat for the first time?
There is not a single person that meets our dog that doesn’t stop and ask where we got her and to say that she gorgeous. This compliment comes from all types of people no matter where we go. We are so pleased in finding your kennel.

Hi Barbara...
Happy new year just looking at your site and though you might like to see some updates of Shasta. We put in a big pond this year in our back yard and as you can see Shasta was tuckered out from all the work. We still love her very much and she is a great dog. We got some comments over Christmas about how well behaved she is and one collie owner could not believe she was a Brittany, because she was so obedient. Anyway we still take her for long walks and bike rides, let her run on the farm at Dundalk. She hiked the Bruce trail with us on Christmas Day from my Parents on the ridge at Kimberly down through the beaver valley up Beaver Valley Ski Club and over to Talisman.. she was happy.. and very Muddy !!

Hi Barbara,
Our puppy is fantastic!! What a personality!
His name is Sheamus or Shea for short.
He is such a great little guy. He sure is a cuddly
little fella. He likes to sleep on whoever is handy at
the time.
He's growing like a weed.
He's great with my daughter and they play great
together.
He has no problems with his kennel and he is>
completely house broken.
He is really good on a leash and listens well for a
puppy. We've gone for a few runs together to let go of
some of that extra energy.
He runs great with me although they've just been short
10 minute runs so far.
Here are a few photos for you.
He is such a joy! Thanks again!
Take care,

T'Chan is doing very well. He is
a very good boy and he is the star of the neighbourhood. Every body
loves him and wants to take him home. He learned potty training
in no time and has just passed his first level in obedience training.
We are going on to the second level of obedience training and hopefully
we will be able to do some agility in the future.
Please give a big hug to Spice for me. She must truly be a great

and sisters are doing well too.

Hello Barbara;
Trapper is becoming quite comfortable in his new home. He had a good trip home. He had his first backhoe ride yesterday. He wakes up a couple of times in the night but for no length of time and has only messed on the floor once. He follows Dad every where. I have attached a couple of pictures.

Hi - I finally had a chance to take some outdoor pictures of Tuukka this weekend - he is still going strong (just needs a bit more sleep between bouts of exercise..) He was born to "Hiddencreek's Patches CD" on June 3, 1993 - hope all is well,
Kelly Williams (Pannell)
Tuukka has been battling transitional cell cancer for about 18 months and is sadly nearing the end - he still loves to eat and gets 4 small meals of homemade food each day - he had an ultrasound today that showed significant disease in his bladder and ureter as well as liver and i know the vet thinks its time we consider letting him go - however he's sleeping beside me on the couch as i type having enjoyed a 5 km (slow) walk in the woods and a big meal of all the favourites. he's living full time with us now (mom and dad come up for a few days each week) so we'll take it day by day.
Hi Barbara - I'm sorry to say that Tuukka died yesterday - our vet was wonderful and came to the house so he died quickly on his own favourite dog bed - we wouldn't have had the past 14 months if we hadn't changed to the raw diet so thank you for that suggestion and for our two great friends.
Kinsey has been surprisingly unperturbed and we just got back from a long run in the snow where she played with two other dogs - now she's asleep upside down (as always) on "her" armchair...
Thanks again Kelly |

Barbara,
Hello! Hope things are going well. I wanted to send you some pictures.
They are pictures from the first week he was here. 8 weeks old.
We have taken more but don't have them developed yet. We don't have
a digital camera. He weighs about 16 lbs now. He's getting so big!
I'm getting to spend a lot of time with him and give him lots of
exercise. He loves running. He's 13 weeks old now. I've been working
on nipping and he's getting better. It was just puppy stuff. Oh,
yeah and we have him potty trained completely. No more accidents.
He only had a couple anyway. We're keeping his mouth busy on toys
as well.
As soon as I get the updated pictures I'll send them to you.
