A few days ago. Ready to go find some birds don't ya think? I'm leary though for she can't see or hear that well and she could get lost easily. At 14+ I guess she is a retired birder.

Hello Barb, she's not slowed down a bit after 9+. She's weasled my most comfee chair out of me, what next! When should I be introducing another brit into her domain? I'd like to do it before she has to quit hunting with me.

Owned and loved by Gary Polley & Family

Is this what I bought a leather loveseat for? I guess it was for the love of the breed.

AJ

Hi Barbara:

I can't believe that we've had AJ for 3 months already, and yet it seems like he's been part of our family forever. Here are some pictures of him at six months! Isn't he gorgeous? He is a true pleasure, and he has fit into our family perfectly. Hope you enjoy the pictures; sorry I didn't send some sooner.

Kind regards,
Josee Lepine

Annie

Hi Barbara,

I hope this email finds you well. Our dog Annie, whom we bought from you in 1997 is almost 12 years old and still in pretty good shape for a “senior”. We continue to run her hard almost every day and she has thankfully remained free from major problems other than arthritis, which has been controlled completely by the addition of Sasha’s Blend to her diet, which has been a miracle for her; she was on prescription anti inflammatories for years before that and now is off them.

We can’t thank you enough for Annie. She has been the finest dog that my wife and I have ever owned; gentle, smart as a whip, loving and very even tempered. She is much loved not only by our family but by extended family and friends as well. She adapted beautifully when our daughter was born after years of being our only “child”. We feel very lucky to have had the honour of owning such a fine animal once in our lifetimes.

Are you still breeding Brittanys for sale? If so, can you forward information about prices and the adoption process? We’re not interested immediately but I do want to be in the loop on this for future reference.

Best,
Peter Spence

Dam: Ch Hiddencreek's Faithful Witness

Hi Barbara:   Feb 3, 2013
Hope all is well.  I have been meaning to email you with pictures of Blaze for months but something has always cropped up and I never got around to do downloading my pictures.

Anyway I wanted to let you know that he has grown into not only a beautiful boy but also the most wonderful dog.  He and Patches are now palls and are playing.  She no longer is hiding and protecting her ears.  It really has turned out to have been our best move to have brought Blaze into our lives.

Here are some pictures of him growing up.  I do not have the Mcculloch's email address but if you could send this on to them as well of send me their email address.

Thank you.

Blaze
     Blaze

Hi Barbara,

It has been some time since I e-mailed you...but with working and spending time with Blaze the time just seems to go...
It went very well at puppy school and we gained some valuable information so we are enrolling Blaze in Grade 1...he really seems to like the interaction with the other dogs and it enables him to be around children and other adults...Blaze sits on command, down and stand...
He also shakes a paw...something he picked up at home was to fetch a toy or ball that I throw and return it to me and drop it. Blaze is 4 months old today (counting each Thursday from the day he was born)
Oh yeah I meant to mention how well behaved he is when we have our meals in the kitchen he learned not to jump up on us and he now just lays on the floor till we are finished...this carried over well when we were eating on the run in the truck..he just stayed in the back seat..
Look forward to hearing from you

I thought I would forward you a few more pictures of Bosco. She loves being on and around the dock.

Hi Barbara,  Feb 25,2012

It's Bosco's eight birthday today, hard to believe but we can hardly remember family life without her. She hasn't slowed down, her boundless energy keeps us on our toes and forever going for long walks. A tired Brittany is a wonderful thing! I taught her two new tricks this year, so you can teach an old dog new tricks. Well at least you can with her, she's so smart, a little too smart sometimes. She studies our body language and is very aware of what's going on and what our next move will be. She probably knows about 100 words too, since we are forever talking to her. I keep looking at your puppies and wonder if we should get another one since Bosco hates being left alone ... but I don't think I can handle two clever dogs in the house. So we will celebrate with Bosco tonight... with a little ice cream, her absolute favourite thing. Take care Barbara.

Sharon Pece

 Hello Barbara,      Feb 25, 2013

It's Bosco's 10th birthday today. Time flies, but we can't remember what life was like without her. Here are some pic's taken over the past year. She still is afraid of thunderstorms, that's why she hides under my desk, but I bought the Thunder Shirt and it helps calm her down about 70%. She loves the cottage and at Christmas she met her new cousin Brisket, she was pretty patient with the puppy. Hope all is well with you. Hoping things warm up. Long walks haven't been possible, so we've had a crazy brit in the house the past few months, no sign of her slowing down.

Sharon Pece

Good afternoon Barbara,

I have to say e-collar had worked a miracle with Bosco! She has always known what “here” means, she has often chosen to ignore it when off leash (which has been almost never, such a shame) except in the backyard. Now with the help of e-collar she always returns whether she is wearing the collar or not when called. Honestly it took us two weeks to take the collar out of the package because we didn’t have the courage to try it, we didn’t want to hurt her, but it was so easy. And since you recommended it, we trust you. She has only needed a few taps (level 2), and now when we work on her training we only use “tone”. I now feel confident we can release her at the cottage and she won’t get lost. I am so happy and relieved she finally listens! Thank you for the advice. Now she is the perfect dog!

Sincerely,
Sharon Pece

Hi again Barbara,  Feb 25, 2012

Just wanted to show you Bosco in action. She did injure her leg a few years ago which required 14 stitches, she cut the back tendon. She ran over a old rusted piece of tin roof under the snow on a hike, she was down a steep ravine. Luckily she's light enough and I carried her to the car with my scarf wrapped around her leg and we went directly to the emerg vet. But it hasn't slowed her down one bit. She did have a hard time with little exercise while it was healing, but she's good as new. I can still take her cycling with me, one thing the vet said she probably couldn't do again since her foot now sits at a different angle. Never say never. Love her so much.

Hello Barbara:

I hope you are enjoying the summer. I thought that I would send you some more recent photos of Brady. He is a wonderful dog! Brady and I have had a great summer so far. Brady has been canoeing and camping and generally enjoying the outdoors to the fullest. He is also a very popular little guy - everyone who meets him loves him.

I can't believe that Brady will be a year old next month. He has been such a joy.

Brie

     Brie

Barb,

Here are a couple of puppy shots of brie for your scrapbook..She is doing fine and we are settling into a routine now…She LOVES the puppy growth recipe! I made a batch and portioned it up into little servings to freeze and take out when I need it..I mix it with a bit of kibble and she just gobbles it up…. Thanks again and we’ll keep you updated on her progress..First vet visit tomorrow!

Kevin J

From the time we brought Brie home with us we knew she was going to be a special pup. Being our second Brittany we were ready for the high energy level and took full advantage of her eagerness to learn. Barbara did an exceptional job preparing her for her trip home and In the 4 short weeks we have had her, she has learned to go to the door and let us know  when she needs to go out and has also mastered the “Come and Sit” command. Not bad for a pup that’s not quite 12 wks old!

We have modified her raw diet slightly but for the most part she is thriving on the meals we prepare using the recipes Barbara sent home with us…. Thank you  once again for raising such wonderful dogs!

Barbara,

Just passing on a picture of Brie that I took this morning on a run…I apologize that the lighting is poor as  I took it with my phone..

I wanted you to know that Brie is the love of our life and with our son off at university, she gets all the attention! She is a wonderful dog and has a very sweet and loyal temperament. Seeing   her leap and bound on the hunt  in the field is a joy to watch and many people remark at how impressive she is  and ask about her breed..

To some it all up we are thrilled with Brie and want to thank you once again for breeding such fine animals!

Thanks again and take care ..

Bryer

   Bryer

Hello,

A little over a year ago I picked up my little girl at Barbara's home in Markdale, and the adventure has never stopped. Bryer has a great amount of energy so we take her to the bush daily for her hour or more run. She enjoys hunting as much as any dog could ever possible want. At twelve weeks old I started her hunting and she put up ten partridge on her first weekend and has improved greatly with age. She also makes a great house pet, very loving, but a little spoiled. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Barb for a great pet but more a great companion in the bush.

Ceilidh

Hi Barbara:

It's been a while since I sent you an update. Ceilidh just turned two on March 9th and here are a few recent pictures. As you can see from the pictures she is a lovely dog. She now has a baby (human) brother named Ian. She still has her Brittany brother, Sam who is 12yrs old. They just love each other to bits.

Ceilidh and I are just about finished the Intermediate 2 Agility classes. We have a great time and Ceilidh is a very fast learner. We had a little competition at the end of our last set of classes and Ceilidh came in first place! I am so proud.

Thank you so much for our wonderful dog. I hope you and all your dogs are doing well.

Hi Barbara:
Here are a couple of recent pictures of Ceilidh. She was born on March 9, 2008.  She has turned out to be a wonderful dog.  As you can see she is so beautiful.  She is also an agility dog.  We competed in our first official trial in Salisbury New Brunswick on Halloween.  We didn't get any Qs yet but she did get a first place ribbon in Jumpers!  She did very well for her first trial ever.  We are looking forward to the Spring and Summer trialing season.

Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas!

Charlie Girl
     Charlie Girl

Hello Barbara,

Summer is sooo crazy around here but took a lot of pictures of Charlie Girl. She's growing like a weed. She's a good girl. Sleeps her 8 hour straight, eats good, loves to play and chase our 3 cats. She loves to fall asleep on our laps at night - after our long walk through a field which includes visiting the neighbour's dog for playtime - then a quick wash of the feet and on to mommy's or daddy's lap. It's now quite a routine and she looks
forward to it.

Chelsea

Hi Barbara,

I hope you are keeping well.

It’s been quite a long time since my last email; however, I was thinking about you on Chelsea’s third birthday on March 26th. I thought I would give an update. She is the best dog ever;) We love her to pieces. She’s a ton of fun outside and a lamb in the house.

Ariel, Olivia and Matthew love her like a sibling. Chelsea herself is very loving and cuddly. We have no worries about leaving her in a kennel. She gets along with everyone and everything (except some cats) . Ross has become very, very attached. I think you might remember that he has some doubts about getting a dog, now they cuddle on the couch and have a regular play session in our bedroom every morning. Chelsea waits for him to be ready. She is known at the dog park for her “Brittany bounce” and her speed. She can tail a Whippet. I would love another one, but I think one is realistic. Maybe someday....

All the best and thanks for a great dog,

Marian McIntyre, Kanata, ON

Hi Barbara,

How are you?  I can’t believe Chelsea will be 7yrs old this March.  Time sure flies.

We haven’t emailed in quite a while though I contacted you a few months back about possibly getting a puppy.  I see that  you are expecting a litter for March.  I guess you have quite a long list for those puppies by now.  At this point, if all the puppies or spoken for I would like to ask you if you have or know of  any adult dogs that would need a home.   If not I’m wondering when you’re planning on another litter.  Many thanks!

Hello Barbara

I thought I would give you an update and some sweet photos for your website!

HiddenCreeks Amazing Cooper
Dam:  Ch Hiddencreek's Sufficient Grace (Jenny)
Sire:  Ch Mt View's No Doubting This Tomas (Tomas)
Born: June 29th, 2011

Cooper is already 18 weeks old and has settled right into our home and our hearts. He is such a joy, funny, sweet, a little bit silly. He is patient enough to put up with a little too much cuddling from the kids from time to time. Together we have discovered a few new beautiful nature trails in our area, and met some wonderful new doggie friends.

Cooper is graduating puppy kindergarten next week, after learning roll over, sit, stay, jump, and almost mastering play dead. He has been enjoying playing with his brother Sparta after classes. His favourite game is "Shark Attack".....our poor Shark puppet may not survive much longer!

Everywhere we go, we are asked about our fine dog, and the Brittany breed. We are proud to tell all about it.

thanks again for a wonderful puppy.

“Here is our dog Cooper. He just turned 1 year old. He is a Purebreed Brittany, liver & white, from HiddenCreek Brittanys here in Ontario. He is silly and fun, and such a good dog. We are in puppy obedience classes, where he steals the show. He loves to go out in the car, and swimming in the lake. He will insist that you share your icec ream after a hot day. He is very patient and loving to our two small children, and will happily greet any new person or dog. He would be a great candidate for “dog of the week”, even though he is really the dog of a lifetime….. :) ” Cooper’s Human, Carolyn.

Dijon

Dijon

Dijon

Dear Barbara,

I thought I'd wait a couple of days before emailing you just so that I could speak with some certainty about what it's like having Dijon here with us.
To put it as succinctly as possible, the question we have asked ourselves is: "How was Barbara able to save the best puppy 'til the end just for us?"
We are extremely happy with the personality of Dijon and with the excellent training as a house / family pet that you instilled. We have been following your routines. She calls to be let out of her crate to pee around 6:30 in the morning. There have not only been no accidents inside the house, but Dijon only wants to pee outside.
She devours her chicken back and neck in about 10 to 15 minutes each morning. She plays energetically with us for a couple of hours and then naps. She'll have one more play / training period and another nap. We wake her around 5 for dinner and a couple of hours of play and training outside. Then another nap, pee around ten, and then down for the night. She is very comfortable in her crate with her stuffed animal, although she needs to have a small fan on to cool her off and help settle her down when she first comes in.
The training part is mostly about not jumping up, not biting, and not leaping full tilt into Gloria's gardens! Dijon is a bit more boisterous with our daughters Danielle and Denise. They are quickly learning to be more firm with her and what strategies work best with their personalities and voices. Gloria and I have over 30 years in the classroom and a couple of decades as parents, so our experience and instincts have helped a lot. Dijon is fairly calm around us.
We have not yet been able to find a source of knuckle bones, but the hunt continues. In the meantime, we found a few beef soup bones in the freezer. The bones are about the size of a small tea cup. Dijon loves gnawing away at the raw bone and working out the marrow.
I have attached a few photos from Dijon's first days here. I hope you enjoy them.
In closing I want to express our great joy with Dijon. She is turning out to be everything we hoped for in this first experience of having a dog in our family. She is a loveable dog. We foresee lots of activity, challenges, fun, and love with her down the road. We are convinced that a Brittany was the best choice for us.
We believe that what you have accomplished as a breeder is a tribute to you, your efforts, your patience, and your commitment to what is best for these special animals. We will be grateful to you always for the gift that Dijon is to us.
Thank you most sincerely from all of us.

Dan Nazar, Toronto ON.

Djanjo

Hi Barbara,         Nov 10, 2011

I hope that your knee surgery went well and that you're back at home
and recovering. Surgery isn't fun but those replacement knees work
well, I'm told!

Just wanted to let you know that little Django is settling in
beautifully. He is enjoying his backyard and has already mastered the
back steps - first up, then down. He also seems to understand the
commands for SIT, DOWN, and to some extent COME. He's a smart puppy!
He has only had one accident (our fault for playing with him too long
and not letting him out in time) and is good about sleeping in his
crate.

I've attached a photo of Kate with Django in our kitchen. She's very
enamoured with him. Thanks to the new puppy, we've seen her twice
within a week!

Thanks again for the wonderful addition to our family. Please let me
know how you're doing with the knee.

Sincerely,

Nancy

Duchess

11/12/06

Hello Barbara,

We are still enjoying everything about Duchess. She is so much fun. The kids love to play and snuggle with her, and she seems to fit in perfectly with our family. One question I have is about her eating her own poop. I know a lot of puppies do this, but what can we do to stop it. Why do they do it too. It's so nasty.Anyways here are some pictures. Thanks again for all you've done.

Amy Miller

The only way I know of to stop this is to get there first!  This is something that dogs don't, haven't figured it out yet myself, you're right, it's nasty.

Echo

Hi Barbara,

Just wanted to let you know how we are doing with our new addition, Echo. She is 15 weeks now and is growing so quickly, seems bigger every time we look at her!

We must thank you for your early housetraining regime as she has had only a few accidents and none for a few weeks. She even goes on command now! She is doing great with the crate training and has been sleeping through the night since 9 weeks old. She enjoys her long walks in the morning and evening and we have found a great field near us where she loves to chase butterflies and birds, giving her lots of exercise.

We have had her up to all three of our cottages already and she loves to be up in the woods. She likes paddling in the shallow water more than swimming but is a good swimmer when she does it. She loves boat rides and canoe rides too!

Hope everything is going well with you and the dogs and you are enjoying your summer.

Sincerely,
Linday and Matt Pozza (and Echo!)

Ellie's mom was "Annie Get your Gun" and her father "Scout" and she has been with us since she was 8 weeks old and she will be 11 years old in July of this year (2006).

We think she has had a great life to date and remind her that she can thank her not-perfectly-matched butt that she came to live with us. If you may recall, she was not the pup we had picked originally but as we did not intend to show our dog you asked us to take her instead. I wonder sometimes how the other little girl made out it in her career, however we would not trade our pooch.

Ellie certainly likes to perform regardless of her markings. She is a very beautiful girl and people still mistake her for a puppy even though she is not as wild as she was in her younger days! She looks forward to her daily one hour run in the conservation area north of our city. In the attached photos she is playing in the fields at my parents farm.

It is nice to see the pictures of all the other Brittany pups along with their stories.

Ellie

Born Jan. 14, 2011

Hi Barbara,

Here are a few pics of Ellie.  She was great on the ride home…she’ll be a good travel dog.  She is adjusting well, the first couple of nights were a little long but now she’s getting the hang of her new digs.  She is one smart puppy.

Hope all is well with you, thanks for everything!

Hi Barbara,           Nov. 6, 2012

Hope all is well at Hiddencreek.  Just thought you might like to see a couple of pics of Ellie.  She's 1 year 10 months now....seems like we have had her forever.  She's a great family dog and loves her hunting and swimming.
Couldn't imagine life without her.  Thanks!

Hi Barbara,

We wanted to share with you some pictures of Emma (now 9 months) on our outing to Bronte Creek Provincial Park a few weeks ago.  Emma turns into a different dog when she is out enjoying nature and literally springs up and down through the tall grasses.  Emma has been so easy to train, and is such a wonderful companion that we enjoy taking Emma along where ever we go.  She has been adopted by most of the tenants in our building, and considers their apartments home as well.  We have been complimented by her vet, the dog walkers that come when we are working and even by passers-by on the street on her temperament, her lovely stride and her markings.  Considering the large amount of families with dogs in our neighborhood, it is surprising how much attention she attracts.  We will be moving next month in to a home of our own and Emma will have a large backyard to romp in.

Hi Barbara,
Emma will be one in Sept- time sure has gone by fast. Chris and I just wanted to write to let you know that our Emma has grown into a most sensitive and gentle friend/companion. We are so proud of her. We just recently moved out of Toronto to Pickering and into our own home with a backyard- she loves lying out under the apple tree gnawing on her meaty bones. Emma was signed up for agility class this month and she was a natural- she knew what to do with little prompting. Emma gets walks on the beach almost everyday and she's an excellent swimmer. She loves to fetch sticks from the water. Here are some pictures of our little girl that we wanted to share with you. Hope everything is well with you!
All the best, Angie & Chris

Faith

Hi Barbara
Sorry it has taken me so long to send some pictures of Faith. I guess I just don't take the camera out enough. Please see attached. I also wanted to tell you that I have recently adopted a little girl. Her name is Claire, she was born on May10th, 2006. Claire and Faith are getting along really well. When we are out on walks Faith won't let other dogs get anywhere near the stroller, it's cute. Claire shares her Cheerios with Faith as payback. I am off work until Jan2008, so spending lots of time with Claire and Faith.

Bye for now C.

Farley

Aug, 2010

We still have A.K.A. Farley, you changed his name when you received him back from his family to Charley, and when we adopted him at 1 1/2 years we changed it to Brady.   Litter #LN741530NA Born Jan 2/03.  I guess you are wondering what we did with him or if we still have him.  Well we do.  He eventually wormed his way into our hearts and we could not give him up.  He is quite the boy.  Loves to run, and run away when he gets the chance.  Thank goodness for his name tag and our number.  He really only escaped this spring for 5 hours and we couldn't find him.  A man 10 blocks away found him in his yard and called us.  The other escapes were only short but sweet to Brady, we are able to find him within a few minutes.  He keeps us on our toes.

He has become a very loving little boy as he gets older, he is 7yrs old now.  Also, quite the couch or chair potatoe, he prefers this to the floor and sneeks up when I am not watching.

Here are some photos.

Farley

Hi Barbara
Just wanted to give you a little progress report on "Farley" - What a sweetie he is !! He is SOoooo relaxed and good-natured ! - has adapted really well to EVERYTHING !!
WE MUST GIVE A LOT OF CREDIT TO GOOD BREEDING AND TLC in his early weeks !!
The drive home was NO problem - he whined and yelped a bit for only about 30 sec.and then went right to sleep. We stopped a few times to let him pee - he even tolerated a collar and leash with NO PROBLEM - just prancing along like he'd done it before ! (We couldn't chance anything along roadways !!!)
We made another stop at Oakville where we went to a pet store to pick up a nice bed for him and some toys - then for a short visit to my sister's in Oakville. Her 5 yr. old grand-dtr. was there, so Fraley met a new group of people and loved Rianna, cuddling up to her on the grass the whole time !
When we got home we took him on a little tour of the ground floor of the house then out to the back garden where he romped and played for a long time. He was a bit slow to eat his dinner but I guess with all the excitement of the day & newness of everything that was pretty normal ?
He slept like a charm in his crate all night (with only one toilet trip - at OUR request, not his !)

My son's girlfriend came over today to meet him (bearing MORE doggie toys ! - he's getting spoiled already !)
AND I have to tell you that you were R-I-G-H-T .the empty coke bottle IS THE best toy ever !!!!!
Dave & I wear leather mocs around the house so Farley chases our laces as we walk !! He's hilarious !

As I type this he is snuggled beside me - there is a huge thunderstorm and he hasn't even flinched ! (maybe those fears come later ??)

Anyway, we're both learning to walk with our legs astride (haha) ! ...and REALLY ENJOYING the experience. I KNOW it's just the 1st day but I think if we try to do all the "right things" and maintain patience and a sense of humour we're in for a lot of fun (MOST of the time !)

We'll keep in touch ! AND I will send you some photos once I figure out HOW to hook up my camera to the computer etc.!!! (I need a 'puter'-tutor !!!)
Farley says: "Hi and I miss you, but I think I like it here so far" !!!! Marcelle & Dave (Fonthill)

Fionn McCool

Fionn is doing well.  He's sprouting up quickly and is full of energy.
We just enrolled him in obedience classes last week and he picks up right away. He's very smart.
He loves to dig in the garden, play in the water and chase my daughters rabbit.
The vet thought he was a beautiful dog and said he had good bone structure.
I attached a couple of pictures so you can see how he's coming along.

Regards

Elizabeth

Freckles
Freckle is doing great.

She is very active and is growing like a weed. She has learned to run with me on the bike and does a great job of staying about 5 feet to my left! She seems to really like it and is great exercise for both her and me. I can see I will be in much better shape soon!! At the cottage she gets to run free which of course she loves. She is already in obedience classes and is doing quite well. The trainer is amazed at how focused she can be for a puppy in a class of 8 dogs So far she hasn't chewed on anything that she isn't suppose to, well other that the odd sock or my sandal which seems to be the only shoe she is interested in! Anyway, we are really enjoying her.

Gloria

Hi Barb
Just thought I would send you an update on little Gloria. Our trip home on Saturday was uneventful. She is asking to go outside and follows us around constantly. Dobby is being patient and they are not left alone. After all it is his chair he has to share. She is into everything so we have to keep watch. She doesn't like to negotiate the stairs inside (we have a 2 storey) so we have baby gates up but she does fine outside from the back deck. Today she met her new vet and everyone loved her. I have begun pet insurance on her as well. She is trying really hard to get used to her new home. We are keeping her busy, lots of car trips, ball chasing and so on. She has been objecting to being put in her crate for about 5-10 minutes. Today we went away for an hour or so. We got home and she was a calm as could be so she was allowed out to see everyone. I think she will be fine before long. She is very, very alert and happy all around I would say. We got the sheddng brush for Dobby and it has worked great, thanks for that bit of advice. I also trimmed Dobs ears but people still think he's a springer. That's it for now and thanks for giving us another wonderful pup!! I am including a picture of the 2 on Dobby's favourite chair.

Regards,
Karen Walker and family

July 1, 2010

Hi Barb-last week I asked if you would like a couple of updated pictures and here they are. Gloria has a unique way of sitting on the stairs and she has perfected her pose-dont know if the pic can be turned around. I took a nice one of Dobby on the back deck watching as the garden hose was being taken out front to wash the cars. Then a quiet pose of the two lounging on the deck. You did a page for Gloria when we first brought her home (her and Dobby are sitting on his favourite chair). If you want to post any on your new web page go ahead.
Thanks,

Hoolie

HI Barbara,

We all made it home safe and Marley was perfect in the crate all the way home.
We all were leaning towards Hooligan for a name, and when I looked up 'Hoolie' in the urban dictionary (to make sure it wasn't dirty!) I found out that derived from hooligan, a 'hoolie' is a big party in a small space, and doesn't that sound exactly like a Brittany?
So Hooligan he is (Hoolie for short).
He and Archie had a huge run when we got home and Hoolie headed straight for the lake and dove in.
So far, so good :)

Anyway, many thanks, it has been a whirlwind weekend but we're so glad to have a Brittany in our home again and I know that Briar would approve!
Blessings,
Lori et al

Hi Barbara,

Just a quick note to keep you up to date on Hunter’s newest hobby, surfing, yep you heard right surfing. He has no problem getting on the board, but he does have a hard time finding the big waves :)

Taker Care,

the Klukes (Tamara, Robyn, Shauna, Rob and the surfing Brittany--- Hunter)

11/28/06
The two of them are getting along quite well, and of course once again you were right, Hunter is doing most of the training and suffering most of the pain of those sharp little teeth as I am continually amazed that Hunter can be so patient with her, when she continually bites him all the time. She is growing leaps and bounds, you really notice it in her legs now. You will notice that I have started the retrieving training early with her, she has taken to the duck chew tow very nicely, actually she just carries it around everywhere, at least it isn't bigger than her anymore. How are things with you, and when do we start showing this little bundle, after 8 months or so? Talk to you soon, and take care. Hiddencreek's Too Spicey (Jasmine)

Jasper

Just a quick note of appreciation for breeding such beautiful, intelligent and enjoyable dogs as our Jasper. Our girls all adore him, my husband loves having another male around, & he's my running companion (we go out on 45 min. runs 4 time a week in the woods, he just loves it as do I). And of course, he's off the leash in the woods.
He has a great temperament, he really fits into our family well, and he's so cute!!

He is so good natured and learns quickly, he is a pleasure to have as part of the family. There have been no issues with house training, as you indicated “your puppies know what the grass is for”. At the cottage we rarely tie him up, he stays close and routinely checks on us to ensure that we are still close by.

We are certainly enjoying him.

Joey

Joey

Hi Barbara,

I just wanted to thank you for raising such a wonderful pup, Kim and I are having such an amazing time with him. Now at 19 weeks, Joey is doing extremely well and is a great pup (other than his sock obsession:o). He puts a smile on my face all the time and continues to amaze me everyday with how smart he is. Today we had a big snowfall, and all he wants to do is be outside in it playing, which is prefect for tiring out a puppy. When we brought Joey home for the first time, we were amazed at how he was already housebroken! Thanks for that! We really appreciate the natural methods you introduced us to - Joey continues to eat his raw chicken every evening and LOVES it more than anything.

Happy Holiday's and all the best in the New Year.

Cheers,

Kenzie
Kenzie is such a joy to have around. She is fitting in just fine. Thank you for all the extra work you put into her. I know that is a big part of her being so easy to train. We are working on the basics right now and we will attend an obedience class when she gets older.

She is a very well adjusted pup. She gets so many comments on how beautiful she is. I love her markings and how expressive her face is. She may have been part of an unplanned litter, but I couldn't have asked for a better dog.

09/07/06

Hi Barbara,
I thought I should give you an update on how Kenzie is doing. She is now three years old and is well settled in our family. She definitely keeps us entertained! I sent pictures of her two favourite things; swimming and hunting. I bought an e-collar for her two years ago and it has been a blessing (Every Brittany should automatically come with one). It is great to keep her within a safe distance and to call her off skunks and porcupines!  Thanks for the wonderful companion, she is everything we were looking for in a dog. I hope all is well with you and your crew.

 Hi Barbara,

I hope all is well with you.  It has been a while since our last update.  Kirby is doing very well.  He's becoming a fine young dog.  We've been taking him to dog school and he's very easy to train.  He's gentle and responds nicely to positive training methods.  At our recent visit to the vet he weighed in at 35lbs.  WOW!  He's going to be a powerhouse with that chest he's sporting.   We've been giving him lots of exercise to keep the energy level down.  We've just started him on small runs with the bike and he loves it.  He's a beautiful runner.

All the best,

Hi Barbara,    July 15, 2014

We wanted to send you an update on Kirby and some recent photos.  He is 4 1/2 years old now and has become a wonderful dog.  His favourite place to be is at the lake!  Our girls will take out the kayaks and Kirby will swim right beside them.  He has amazing stamina and never gets enough of the water.

We hope all is well and you're enjoying the summer,

Kodi

I'm 1 year old today!!! (Kodi -from litter born March 9, 2007 - Grace and Pekoe)

Hi Barbara,
I wanted to let you know that our precious Kodi (Kode of the North) is one Today! I know we promised to send you some pics and let you know how Kodi Is doing, but quite honestly, we have been busier than ever with this new addition to our family. It took us hours to get attached to Kodi. And now, we can't imagine life without him!

He has been very busy since we brought him to his new home in Sudbury. The first week we brought him fishing on our boat....which he decided he would jump off of for fun :) he's a good little swimmer that's for sure...We've taken him hunting and the first bird we got, he wasn't too sure what to do with...I think it will take him a little while before he's a real hunter! He's gone through his first
Hallowe'en (wanted to play with each kid that came to the door) and got spoiled at Christmas by everyone in our family....I have to say he is a very
Hyper dog!! he's got so much energy....I'm going to be taking him to agility classes in the Spring and maybe that will wear him down :)

We absolutely love him and thought we'd let you know just how much by sharing these pictures with you.....

PS. It would be fun if the other postings showed which litter the dogs are from....I'd like to see what Kodi's litter mates are up to... (two litter mates on this page are Ranger & Ceilidh)

Take care,

Natalie, Bruno and Kodi

Kinsey & Gruffydd

Dylan and I are thrilled with Kinsey - she has a wonderful, cheerful and brilliant personality and enjoys every moment - these pictures are from tonights walk - she is loving living in caledon with all the woods and ponds for her to patrol. We still wonder about getting a second puppy so would be happy to hear about future litters.... We'll start some basic hunting lessons in the late summer - although she seems to know an awful lot about it already... Tuukka is also doing well and is presently at his "summer place" in Haliburton with mom and dad.

Best wishes

Hi Barbara - Happy New Year. I thought I'd send you a couple of pictures of Kinsey and Tuukka. Kinsey is a delight and is slowly outgrowing the puppy stage and becoming more calm although she certainly has bursts of madness. She loves to be outside and has taken very well to our "invisible" fence system. She gets hours of walks around the ski club a day and her hunting instincts are quite impressive.

I hope you and your dogs are well - we'd still be interested in getting a second puppy if you have any litters planned.

Thanks for our lovely dogs

Dec 2010

Hi Barbara - I wanted to send you a few recent pictures of our two hidden creek brittany's Kinsey and Gruffydd.  They are both thriving... and lying upside down on the couch in front of the fire with me as i type.  They love their yard and patrol the woods with great sincerity - often showing up at the door with unfortunately slow chipmunks, squirrels and/or field mice.  we get lots of wild life (rabbits, raccoons, foxes, deer) so they sit in the window seats guarding us from these visitors.  Both have been extremely healthy and are adapting well to our 1 year old daugher.  Kinsey especially is very protective of her and will nose and lick her if she cries - she likes to sleep on the bed in Sophie's room or under her crib at night.  They are unbelievably gentle with her.
I hope that you and your family (both canine and human) are well and that you have a great Christmas,
kelly and dylan

"Hiddencreek's Touched By Grace"  (Lily)
Hi Barbara,

We have had such a great summer with our Lily. She is now 20 weeks old. We truly believe she is the best puppy ever and couldn't have asked for a better addition to our family. She has grown so much since she came home with us in June. Lily has the sweetest and most gentle personality and learns incredibly quickly. We are doing clicker training with her and she has got the basic commands down. Potty training was virtually effortless because she did that all on her own. There are many dogs in the neighbourhood and she is a social butterfly, friendly with everyone. One of her favourite activities is running off leash with her friend Trinity, an Australian Shepherd. At first Trinity was much faster but now Lily has no issues keeping up. She also loves retrieving a frisbee and ball.

At home Lily is my little shadow and follows me everywhere around the house. She is teething right now so we keep her well supplied with lots of chew toys. She doesn't really bother with anything that is not hers. Lily also loves our cat Dobby although sometimes I don't think the feeling is mutual, especially when Dobby is trying to nap and Lily just wants to play. When Lily gets a bit older I think we will try agility or flyball. She would love that. Right now we are enjoying our puppy and love her to pieces.

I hope all is well with you. I see you have been very busy with 2 other litters since Lily's. I look at the pictures you post and can hardly picture Lily being so small even though it wasn't that long ago. Attached are some photos of Lily. Thank You for giving us such a beautiful and wonderful puppy.

Kris

Hi Barbara;

We thought we would send a couple of pictures along of Lily as she approaches 5 months. It is hard to believe she is that old already. She has been a great addition to our family. She is very active (surprise!! Ha Ha) and she is getting lots of good exercise, as are we. Lily is very smart, most times she is two steps ahead of us and keeps us thinking all the time. We just love her. I think she will be an excellent agility dog.

Dear Barbara,
Time passed and i never sent you a pic of Luna (or did I???). As I see them I already miss her as a puppy . As you can see she's grown and looks more like a young lady than a puppy. She does behave like a puppy though. This too shall pass. She is well known and liked in the neighbourhood. When will she reach her final size? I love to see her trot and run she looks absolutely beautiful. Thanks again and hope all is well.

We are starting to take her everywhere we go and everybody just loves her. I can't believe she's already 11 weeks old! The DSC photos are all of her when she was 8 weeks and the other two are at 10 and 11 weeks.

She reminds me of her mama Jenni (looks wise) but her personality seems to be more like Tomas (from what I remember when we visited with him). She has a mind of her own that's for sure, and we all find it so amusing haha. It makes it seem like she's not a dog sometimes; people really underestimate the intelligence of some dogs. Aside from being extremely smart she is just the biggest sweetheart and loves to be loved! My favourite times with her though is when I take her out for our ventures in the forest. It's so amazing how much I can just relax and enjoy my time with her because she is such a good dog; she doesn't stray more than 10 ft away from me.

We all feel so blessed to have her in our life and can't thank you enough for your time and effort bringing her up. I guess it's true what they say...when you find a good breeder, it's like a gold mine, priceless really.

Keep in touch,
The Pankericans

Maggie

Hi Barbara,

I can't believe we haven't emailed you since we picked up our little Maggie, but I think of you often and wanted to let you know that Maggie is doing great and we are having so much fun together. Attached are a few recent pictures. We went up to the cottage this weekend and she sure does love to swim! We take her mountain biking with us and she gets so excited when she sees us getting the bikes out, she can't wait to run! She absolutely loves her frisbee too! She is doing very well with her training (k9 wolfman ~ Mike Martin) and is almost at graduation I think. I hope you enjoy the photos!

Take care, Julie, Ian & Maggie

Marshall

Hi Barbara... just a little note to tell you that Marshall is doing great. He has been doing his business outside and is doing well at night. We all love him to pieces.

I have attached a photo from this week. Hope all is well with you.

Thanks again for everything,

hi Barbara... just a quick note to say that Marshall is doing great. It's hard to believe we have had him for over 6 weeks. Don't worry about the rawhide you saw in our last photo... it was only in it for the benefit of the person who gave it to us as we sent them the photo too... we don't let him have rawhide... and he loves the soup bones.

Hope all is well with you... the Swansons.

Merlin

Hi Barb!

Really long time. Too long! How is life?

Today is Merlin’s 11th birthday! He is wonderful and we love him more every day.
HUGE coincidence... we had a lady over here for a business meeting a few days ago and she took one look at Merlin and said “I have one of those at home!”.

Turns out she has KC – son of Annie – not quite one year older than Merlin. Looks a bit more like Tess down the street here but a huge resemblance to Merlin.
Merlin and KC are cousins as Annie is Blaze’s sister.

Is there anything that you can suggest for aging Brittany doggies? Merlin is 11 – very spry but occasionally showing his age just slightly. Mostly in his look. We are still battling the lumps and bumps from the mold in our house and that last rabies shot he got all those years ago – but other than that he is.. we.. Merlin.

Please keep in touch and let us know what’s new in the life of Barbara and the family and doggies!

Love Cori, Eddie, Lindsay & the birthday boy.

Hi Barb!                                  Aug. 2010

God its been a long time! How are things?
I need to chat with you about Merlin as he approaches his aged years. He is 14
Going on 3... Had surgery recently on his vocal cord and such but really good.
Give me at shout when you can at (416)846-3291.
Love to hear form you!

Millau
    Millau

Tony and I wanted to thank you, first of all for our wonderful puppy (hardly a puppy any longer) and also your Christmas newsletter.
I must admit, for the first couple of weeks after we brought Millau home in August, we were afraid we were in over our heads! He is our first dog so we weren't quite prepared for the biting, barking, and house-training headaches. But we've come a long way since then. In December, at 5 months old, Millau graduated from Grade 1 obedience school at the top of his class (see the attached photo with his graduation hat). He even placed first in a competition with 10 other (older) dogs to see which had the best sit-stay. In the final round of the competition, there were 4 people trying to entice him to break his sit-stay by waving food and toys right under his nose, but Millau never moved - we were very proud. :)
We'd love to attend your get together/reunion, if possible. Keep us informed. I hope all is well with you. We'll be sure to let you know when we are ready for another Brittany!

All the best,
Soo

Molly

ire:  Ch Nutbutter Hiddencreeks Solomon FDJ
Dam:  Ch Hiddencreek;s Queen Ester

Birth date:  July 22, 2000

She retired from competitive field work with an FD and one leg to her FDX. She always had high marks but honouring was her issue - she thought all the birds were HERS and why waste time waiting for another dog when there were birds to be found  : )

She did manage to finish her ATChc, Bonze, ExSt Bonze, EXJ Bronze, EXS Bronze and VSA in agility. We were working towards silvers when she retired.

She also had numerous CKC agility titles, CGN & TT

Oct. 2012

I just came back from my annual fall camping trip and as usual Molly was my companion while the pointers stayed home. This has become our special time together. Molly is now over 12 and this past spring developed a funny sound to her breathing. She is now nicknamed HR Huff & Puff but this has not slowed her down at all. Her style in the field is still straight ahead go from A to B regardless of what is in her way. She goes over, under, up, down through anything!!! She has always taken the road less travelled.  We spend a lot of time grouse hunting this trip and she was showing the younger dogs how it is done. She is never on the path but always working the bush on either side. We came across a log over a creek and her agility training came in handy as she ran across it without any hesitation. Another time we had to cross a log bridge and again no issue however on the way back she decided to get a drink first. I true Molly form the direct route was now across the creek. As I watched her swimming and floating away down the stream with the current I could only smile and laugh at her antics. Her hearing is gone now and so she wears a bell in the bush and is fondly referred to as "Diggle Dog". Each night she lays upside down in her camping chair sleeping by the fire as I brush out her daily collection of "kindling" from her coat. "Don't sit in the Brittany's chair" is a common phrase to visitors to our camp fire. Molly worms her way inside and to the bottom of my sleeping bag each night and keeps my feet warm. I was looking for you at the Britt field test this past weekend but missed you. I hope all is well with you and thank you again for this amazing little dog.

Molly & I just got back from our annual camping trip up north. She was disappointed in the lack of grouse (only saw 4 & got 2) but still had a good time. You have to be very careful leaving your chair at the campfire. She is now known as the chair bandit and will steal your place at a moments notice. She kept me warm on the cold nights (down below zero) at sleeping the bottom of my sleeping bag. I don't know what next year will bring since she is now 13 so I treasure every moment together. She is loving her nose work classes.

Oozie

Hello Barbara. This is my dog that comes from your hiddencreek line. Her kennel name is oozie and she's from queen ester and solomon. Oozie finished 2nd in the 2009 NSTRA Central Canada Championship trial. The amazing thing is she is 10 years old and beat out many younger dogs of mixed breeds like setters, GSP's and pointers. She also placed first in an earlier trial this year out of a field of 25 dogs. She is an amazing house dog / hunter, and she goes to work with me everyday. I don' t know if i'll ever be lucky enough to have another dog like her !! Just thought you might be interested in the news. PS: How has this line been doing over the years. Any good potential hunters/ house dogs with a quiet displacement ??

Opal Queen

Opal Queen

Hi Barbara - Bruce Laforce in Ottawa (Nepean) Ontario and I got a
pup from you about 4 and a half years ago (Hidden Creek's Opal Queen). Opal gives us such pleasure. She personifies joy when running the yard first thing in the morning and total comfort when she's stretching in her bed in the evening. We wanted a dog with an enjoyable personality and that's what Opal has, by the truckload.
Opal has been a lovely dog with a wonderful personality, once she
stopped treating feet going down the stairs as perfect playthings. We found having two dogs great; certainly having Opal in the house when we came back from the Vet (after loosing Brandi) was a real consolation. All of which is to say, we will be looking for another dog, preferably from Hidden Creek, sometime in the course of the next year or so.

Hi Barbara,

I have attached a little blurb about Ozzy that you can add to the pictures I have sent you. That is wonderful you are putting his picture on your web site. We like to show him off he is such a nice dog. That was some professional pictures my father in law took of him, he is a photographer. I am glad you like them. He is truly amazing with our children we have a 3 year old boy and a 2 month old baby and he just loves both of them. We may consider getting another Brittany and if we do we won't go any where else except to your kennel. It is quite obvious you are in it because you love it. Thank you for putting his picture on our website we will be looking for it.

Paige

Hi Barbara,

We thought that it was time to send you a few pictures of Paige and an update. Paige is doing very well. Paige is a very energetic, happy, loving puppy who loves her family and other dogs! She loves to be outside and especially loves the snow.

Paige settled in very quickley and house trained nicely. We find her to be highly intelligent and full of character. Among her favorite activities are walks, runs, visits to the dog park and hikes with her border collie brother, Duncan. Paige is an excellent fetcher and an incredible jumper!! It's quite amazing actually.

We look forward to her second summer where she'll have all her shots for the duration and therefore more flexibility for fun summer activities!

Yesterday was Pekoe’s birthday. Time has gone by so fast! We’re really enjoying her, and she has a pretty good life here … lounging on couches, sleeping on beds, playing with the kids, etc.

She is a different dog from our other Brittany; it’s like having 2 kids with different personalities

Just a quick note to give you an update on Penny. It is hard to believe that she is almost 6 months already, time sure does fly! Penny has recently graduated from her puppy kindergarten class and has been doing very well with her training. She loves meeting new friends every day on her walks, and I would have to say that she is the friendliest girl on the block! Penny is such a joy to have around and I thank you very much for putting the time into her early on so that she was able to develop into such a wonderful puppy!

Phoebe

Hi Barbara,
Sorry i has taken us some time to get back to you. It took us almost a month to think of a name for our puppy. Finally her name is Phoebe. We are absolutely in love with Phoebe and we find she really has some similarities with our beloved Watson (her half-uncle). This is a really great line of Brittanys. As we've seen other Brittanys, but they just didn't have the sparkle of Watson, our old dog, and Phoebe. She has a spunky playful character and though she's small she has no trouble at all standing up to bigger dogs. She has quite the little character and is definitely wise. It took only a little over a week to toilet train her and then she was asking for the door without fail. We’re anxious to start training her to point and hunt with the our falcons. And as you can see from the pictures she is great with our little (now) 7-month-old Clara and seems to know almost instinctively to be gentle with her. Clara loves her puppy as well and I’m sure they’re going to be best friends.

Thanks!

Ranger

Hi Barbara,

Hope your summer is going well.
I just wanted to send you a little update of how Ranger is doing.  He has been part of our family for more than 2 months now.  I can't believe how much he has grown - he is approx. 22 pounds now, much bigger than the 8.5 pounds that he was at 8 weeks!
We continue to feed him a raw diet and he loves it!  He eats everything in 5 minutes maximum. In the morning, he eats either beef, lamb, or chicken patties with the bone ground in, seeds, grasses, and herring oil.  At night he has his chicken necks or a combination of chicken necks with wild sockeye salmon, sardines, or tripe all with fresh vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, parsley, cilantro, carrots, peppers, cucumber, tomatoes, lettuce, basically whatever we are eating) or some fruit (apples, berries, pineapple, papaya, peaches, etc.).  I mix in a little kelp and some herring oil as a supplement.  Because of the diet, his coat is so soft and shiny.  Ranger is the most popular dog on the street and everyone thinks he is so cute with beautiful markings (it's true!).  He is also very agile and is the fastest dog in his puppy socialization classes.  I think he will be a great agility dog in the future.  So far he has already passed Grade 1 obedience and will be going to Grade 2 clicker training next week.

He is getting better at not nipping, but we are still working on that.  As well sometimes he has a problem barking very loudly in the crate when he's not sleeping in it.  I bought a crate cover so hopefully that will help with that behaviour.  I was wondering when is the best time to get him neutered?  Also, would you recommend microchipping him?

Hope your dogs are doing well.

Here are some pictures of Ranger when we first took him home and the rest are more recent

Take care,

Jocelyn

Reilly

Barbara,

Just a quick note to let you know how Oh Reilly is doing and have added a quick pick of her lounging pool side.  Looking at the pictures you sent us of Spice, Reilly is a spitting image of her Mom.

Reilly has been an absolute pleasure to have as part of our family.  Her temperament is so wonderful and she enjoys everyone’s company including all humans, dogs, and cats she may encounter.  She has two younger brothers (cats) that she looks after and plays with.  She is gentle with our four young kids and enjoys romps in the yard with them.  At almost 4 years of age she has not slowed down one step.

Thank you again for Reilly.

Hi Barbara,
Thank you for Just Paws and your Christmas wishes. It was a great read and our whole family loved it. My kids especially like "Things Dogs Have to Remember".We have been extremely happy with Rigby (from Faith's first litter with Solomon). She was a very spirited pup with lots of personality and I've lived vicariously through her sprinting and spring. She is truly a thing of beauty to behold when running free.

Thanks again

    Riley

Hi Barbara

I hope you are well and all the dogs as well. We were checking the web site tonight as we love to see all the adoption stories and see how all the dogs are doing.

Riley will be three on March 30th (parents were Patches and Solomon). He is absolutely the most amazing guy and everyone loves him. He has certainly settled down from his puppy days but can still get a little rowdy at times. He is very social and loves other dogs. As you can see from the picture we have rescued a little Cocker Spaniel. Riley has been great with him and they are inseparable.

I think our only problem is that Riley thinks he is a lap dog and takes every opportunity to climb up onto my lap in the evening. He hasn't figured out yet that he is a little big for laps. Truthfully I don't mind my nightly cuddles.

Best Wishes

Riley (Rock of Ages)

12/29/06

Dear Barbara,

I am an old man now and have finally slowed down at 11½  years old.  We enjoy your website and think you should have a senior doggy section. I was wondering if you could tell me the names Riley’s puppies in case there are any pictures we could see them in. He is the greatest dog and has an unnatural passion for chasing squirrels.  Our sixteen year old cat still keeps him in line and he is completely devoted to our kids Stacey 2½ and Chris 7. He doesn’t pull so hard on the lead anymore so Chris can have a turn walking him and he seems to know when Gramma is holding the lead and doesn’t even try to pull despite all the cool smells.

I have attached Riley’s finishing photo and a recent photo for you. Thank you again for sharing your passion with us, we are hooked for life.

Born: Jan 14, 2011

Hi Barbara,      On Wed, Mar 27, 2013

That's what Rockie looks like now. Jenna also is more grown up. Time flies.
Didn't renew my membership, since I don't like long distance driving and all the events take place a long way from here.

Rocky has a very good nose and points nicely, maybe a bit shorter than Ringo did. He is very stocky, more than Ringo ever was and has imbred snow shoes. He listens, likes to please, however doesn't think fetching is much fun. That feels too much like work.

Anyway, we have a good time. Ringo is now 13 years old, lost most of his hearing and sense of smell, however he still wants to come to every bird hunt or were ever we are going.

Hope things are going well for you, take care,

Hans

  Robbie

Dear Barbara,
Robbie is a little over 3 months now and really growing fast. Thank you so much for him. He has such a pretty face, and I love his freckles. Everyone in our family loves him, and so does everyone he meets. He loves other dogs, and all dogs, some cats, and our bunny really like him. (I think he'd bite the bunny though). He knows no, sit, lie down, and sometimes come here. He is very thoughtful and sits and watches and listens to any strange sounds even on the middle of his walks. He is also very bossy, and talks back a lot if we say no. When he gets tired, he literally goes berserk. He runs around and tries to nip us and starts playing really roughly. We have to time him out in his crate, and he'll usually go right to sleep. I guess he's just like a little kid. I have a funny picture of Robbie but no picture which shows off how pretty he is with his cute freckles. He got his head stuck in the top of the bathroom waste paper basket and went walking around unconcerned about it.

Hi Barbara
Got your Christmas greeting note today and thought you might like to
see how Rudi the Beauty is doing these days.
She only suffers from too much attention from the camera and other
family members as you can see. Rudi is in great health, loves her bush
runs and days at the cottage on Georgian Bay. In fact she is sitting
right next to me now anxiously expecting a trip to the forest.
Have a wonderful Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

All the best

Ruger

    Ruger

    Ruger

We have been taking Ruger out hunting over the past few months, he has been hunting chucker and doing really well! The last hunt we decided to hunt him on pheasant HE WAS AWESOME ! ( This was the day we got the photo). Hunting is his passion, he shakes from excitement when he gets out of the truck and realizes the fun is about to begin!

Ann has been an amazing trainer, we are going to continue with her when the nice weather is back. I think we are planning, If I am not mistaking to have Ruger try for his FD this year.

Ruger is a handful, through a contact of Ann we got him into a good obedience class which we started a couple weeks ago (he was in one previously but I was not happy with their methods) The trainers here are amazing they know their stuff after the first class they pretty much analyzed Ruger to a T. I have to do things a little differently with him, I am proud to say after just 2 weeks he walks beside me on lead with no struggle each and every time I stop he automatically sits on my left and waits for my instruction. The instructors are very impressed!!

Barbara it is so nice to know that if we have a quick question or concern your door is open so to speak, and that the day we picked up our puppy wasn't/wouldn't be the last contact we have with you. Your support has been appreciated!

Ruger turned 1 year Jan 1st and we celebrated with a little cake, YES! Thank you so much for our little man!!!! Have a Fantastic Day and if his picture appears in the mag I will be sure to let you know!!

Sage
Hi Barbara -

Sorry this is so overdue! We're loving getting to know Sage. She's a great little girl and loves playing fetch and teasing our cats, although she isn't very fond of puddles, we've learned! Attached are a few pictures of Sage in New Brunswick!

Thanks you so much for providing us with such a wonderful little dog!

Sarah Alexander, RMT

Hi Barbara:      July 4/10

Sarah, Sage, and I just returned from an awesome weekend in Fundy National Park!

We had great weather the two days we were there and we managed to hike four trails for a total of 16.8km in two days.  All but one of the trails we hiked had a waterfall.  The waterfalls were great because it allowed for a refreshing break from the warm air temperatures.  Sage and I watched today as Sarah took a dip in the pool at the base of the park’s largest waterfall.  I am not sure what the water temperature was, but I am guessing it was likely around 12 to 15 degrees Celsius – Brrrrr!  Sage and I were having no part of that.  Attached is a picture of Sarah and Sage at the base of the waterfall after Sarah’s swim.

Last night she did extremely well for her first night sleeping in a tent, but we did have to get up a little earlier than we usually do because she wanted to get out and explore.  Sage was a real charm to have on the hikes as she encourages us to walk faster, but we think we finally managed to wear out our little ball of energy.  She slept on Sarah’s lap on the drive home and after her bath she has pretty much savoured the delight of lazing around – taking 15 minute intervals on her bed and on the hardwood floor.  All of us are probably off to bed early tonight.

Everywhere we go, people ask about Sage.  She is such a wonderfully behaved puppy and she has gorgeous features.  We have managed to master “sit”, “stay”, and “laydown”, but we are still working on “come” – somehow she comes to “Ok” instead and only when her nose is not telling her to go after a bird or butterfly.  Two weeks ago she had her spaying surgery and she sailed right through that.  She didn’t even seem to notice that she had surgery.  Getting raw food for her has become easier now that we have a new local market that provides that service – there seems to be a growing number of people feeding their dogs raw food.

Next update we should have a picture of all three of us.

Take care,

Life with the pup is great.  She is full of mischief but is responding to training well.  We take her every weekend to our cottage for three days where she is off leash 100% of the time and has become very comfortable in the woods and the water.  Two weeks ago she came tearing around a corner on a dirt trail and came face to face with a baby dear that was just bigger than her.  She stood and stared and eventually chased it into the woods where she then met the mother… she high tailed it out very fast!  Last week she did the same thing but met a groundhog that stood and did a stare down for about 5 minutes.  Adorable.  We took your advice and bought an e-collar with a 1000m range and it adds a lot of security to the situation when you have a dog with an obsessed nose like hers.  We haven’t spayed her yet…  I would love to breed her but Shauna is hesitant on how it would work etc.  When should she go into heat for the first time?

There is not a single person that meets our dog that doesn’t stop and ask where we got her and to say that she gorgeous.  This compliment comes from all types of people no matter where we go.  We are so pleased in finding your kennel.

Scout

June 18, 2010
Hope you are enjoying summer weather in Ontario. We have had a fine spell here, which makes a change! Gwen is on a sailing holiday with school; Ieuan had exams, poor thing! All is well with us. I thought you would like this picture of Scout with his friends in Crystal Palace Park (both as grand as it sounds!).

Hope you are well and love from all of us,

Rachel x

Scout has moved to England with his family!!

Here are the children, and Scout surveying his estate. Most of the year the back door is open and he roams in and and out checking up on me and the garden, then sits in the doorway to make sure it doesn't go anywhere! The foxes who stroll up and down the railway line behind the house provide great amusement, as do the Canada geese on the playing fields beyond!

He is still rubbish on a lead and at coming back to me, despite endless training, but is improving slowly and is a happy dog - ears always up and tail wagging! He waits patiently at home while I go to work and is glad to see me when I get back, loves Mark and playing with the children in the garden. We walk in the parks and woods and he is much calmer in the house than he used to be. I can't quite bring myself to get him neutered but he has an implant as a trial for 6 months which has the effect of neutering but is reversible; I think it has toned down his behaviour quite a lot. He just makes friends wherever we go; I've been training with a gundog handler down in South Wales near my parents and they all love him at the kennel there. We're off on an 11 mile walk on the South Coast tomorrow and hope to give him his first experience of the sea!

The rest of us are all fine too - Mark's job safe (thank goodness) and the children doing well at school. Ieuan is going up to senior school in September, and Gwen is moving to the same school for Y5 (like Grade 4) so we will all be in the same place. My job is pretty busy but I still just work three short days, finishing at 2pm so I can come home to Scout - all my colleagues laugh at me for that. We are still in the same rented house which is just in a great spot for shops and school. We feel so fortunate in the current climate that everything continues to go so well for us - we are all healthy and happy and are thankful for that.

I hope you and you family are all well too and expect you are anticipating another great summer at the shows. I keep an eye on your site to see pics of your new champions!

Pats for the dogs and very best wishes to you Barbara. Scout sends a 'wuff'.

Shasta

01/01/07

Hi Barbara...
Happy new year just looking at your site and though you might like to see some updates of Shasta. We put in a big pond this year in our back yard and as you can see Shasta was tuckered out from all the work. We still love her very much and she is a great dog. We got some comments over Christmas about how well behaved she is and one collie owner could not believe she was a Brittany, because she was so obedient. Anyway we still take her for long walks and bike rides, let her run on the farm at Dundalk. She hiked the Bruce trail with us on Christmas Day from my Parents on the ridge at Kimberly down through the beaver valley up Beaver Valley Ski Club and over to Talisman.. she was happy.. and very Muddy !!

Hi Barbara,
Our puppy is fantastic!! What a personality! His name is Sheamus or Shea for short. He is such a great little guy. He sure is a cuddly little fella. He likes to sleep on whoever is handy at the time. He's growing like a weed. He's great with my daughter and they play great together. He has no problems with his kennel and he is> completely house broken. He is really good on a leash and listens well for a puppy. We've gone for a few runs together to let go of some of that extra energy. He runs great with me although they've just been short 10 minute runs so far. Here are a few photos for you. He is such a joy! Thanks again!
Take care,

Smudge

Dec. 14, 2012

Smudge is 12 now.  When she used to go running/ biking with us, as in these 2009 photos, she would go find a mud hole and dive in…

She is really getting feeble now, and I only walk her around the block.  She still loves the lake but will not swim.

Sparta

Hi Barbara!            Oct 25, 2012

Here is Sparta’s update (and some pictures) if you’d like to add it to the “Adoptions” page on your website “HiddenCreek Brittanys”.

Hiddencreek Jenny Tomas Sparta
Sire: Ch Mt View’s No Doubting This Tomas
Dam: Ch Hiddencreek’s Sufficient Grace (Jenny)
Born: June 29, 2011

SPARTA was 1 of 6 puppies born to Jenny (and Tomas) on June 29, 2011. Barbara was surprised as all 6 were liver and white, the first time that had happened in about 20 years. Our awesome dog is now 16 months old. He is a big, strong boy. We have all come a long way.
Early puppyhood was an adjustment but it was fun. Sparta is everything we wanted in a dog and more. He is certainly a wonderful, well loved member of our family!

Sparta is good natured and intelligent. He accepts and gives affection often, is playful, easily shares his toys and bones, is respectful (well, he can be a bit stubborn at times as he does have a mind of his own - haha), loves people and most of all, loves other dogs!! He does require plenty of exercise, but we were expecting that of his breed. (We need it too and it is so nice to be out in the fresh air more.) Sparta runs and plays daily in the large dog parks with woods and fields that we have in our area. On the trails, he likes to be out front and always keeps an eye on us, bounding back to “tell” us that he is near. He also has a daily off leash play session in a smaller park with his favorite buddies. It is amusing to watch him with a toy or stick in his mouth, edging
on his playmates to get them to run and play. Eager to learn, we have taught him a lot of tricks and games.

Many people have commented on how friendly and handsome Sparta is. Of course we are proud to say that he came from a great breeder: Hiddencreek Brittanys of Markdale near Owen Sound. We have come to appreciate even more the time and work that goes into being a good breeder. Barbara Brownridge is one of them!

We are taking Sparta to another obedience class (he has taken Puppy Kindergarten and Level One). Agility and more swimming is also on our “doggie to do” list in the near future.

We are looking forward to another reunion with Sparta’s brother, Cooper. Both are from the same litter of 2 males and 4 females. As the brothers are living in the same city (Ottawa), it was thoughtful of Barbara to put us in contact with each other, even before we brought them home. We “chat” often about doggy news and concerns.

A big thanks to Barbara for our Brittany!

July 2009

Hi Barbara,

I'm sorry it has been so long since I have been in contact, a lot has
happened since my last email.

In June 2008 I found out I was pregnant with our 2nd child.
Mr Stitch is great and is a great dog.  He has adjusted well to a new baby
and is very gentle (still a bit jealous)... but she loves him!!

He continues to love going to the lease-free park which we take him to
almost daily.

I hope all is well with you & yours.

Sure Shot Browning

BrowningBrowning

Hi Barbara,

I thought that you might like to hear on how are Sure Shot Browning is doing. He has had a busy hunting season so far. He is getting many opportunities to hunt in our ARGO, but this year, because he's 6 months old, he's only smelling the different odors and he looks very suprised. House training was so easy. We trained him with a clicker and he all ready knows to give the path, to seat, to come, to turn, to lay down and to wait. He enjoys running in the baseball field in front of our house when Marie-Pier comes back from school.

Here are some pictures of Browning in the bush. As you can see he's growing! We love our Browning very much. He likes to follow us everywhere in the house ... he's like a glue stick!

Merci beaucoup Barbara! ;o)

TChan
    TChan

T'Chan is doing very well. He is a very good boy and he is the star of the neighbourhood. Every body loves him and wants to take him home. He learned potty training in no time and has just passed his first level in obedience training. We are going on to the second level of obedience training and hopefully we will be able to do some agility in the future.

Please give a big hug to Spice for me. She must truly be a great dog to have raised such a wonderful little T'Chan. I hope her brothers and sisters are doing well too.

Dear Friend,
I am writting to wish you and your familly a very happy new year. I hope that all is going well for you all.
T'Chan and I are still in France. He is doing very well. A lot of people here have asked me where I got him from and they can't believe that he is from Canada and not from France

Sincerely,

Tigua

Tigua

Hi Barbara,

It’s hard to believe that Tigua will be a year tomorrow! Time flies when you are having fun. She’s a really good dog – she loves her off leash walks (or should I say runs), but also does well on the leash and is calm in the house.

She gets muddy a lot this time of year, with all the low levels of water is the streams around here. Doesn’t seem to bother her one bit! And she’s really good with other dogs and small kids. We’ll see how she does with a crying baby, but she doesn’t seem to get too worked up about things.

I’ve attached a couple of recent pics (she never misses the morning veggies!).

I hope all is well with you.

Emma & Steve Gamaig

November 2009

Hi Barbara,

It’s been a teensy while since I’ve emailed.  There have been a few changes.  Mitchell was born 10 days after Tigua’s birthday (May 14th) and is now 6 months, and we just moved.  We are still in Peterborough, but a bigger house and a bigger yard.  And we live even closer to the trails.  Tigua is very happy.  She’s a great dog.  Everyone is very impressed with her.  Steve hasn’t done any hunting yet, but he’s training with her every now and again.  We are so glad we have her.  I’ve attached a few recent pictures.  She’s a great family dog, but she’s still a hunting dog at heart!

Cheers,
Emma Valliant

Hi Barbara;

Toby is doing GREAT! I was home last week and he is adorable! He is very playful, especially with my cat and Bonita (our chihuahua). My parents love him like he is their own son.
I have some pictures from the time when my parents brought him home for the first time. In the meantime, I hope that all is well.

Sincerely,
Catharine Rocha

Tres Bien

  Hddencreek's Tres Bien (Sept. 7/11)
Pa & Ma - Tomas & Annie

Hi Barbara, Tres is a very good dog lol:) - his name suits.  He pointed at the stuffed animal we set up within the few first attempts on day 1 (wow - genes) and has learned quite a few rules and commands to date - really incredible for anything so young.  We have travelled to and investigated several ponds and fields outside of town and it's been fun for all - although a little cool lately.  When off leash he roams to about 50-75 meters so far and is great with eye contact.  My wife Talitha has kept with the raw chicken diet and has made several "super food" dishes (spinach, vegetables, fish, liver, chicken hearts etc. etc.) so I think we'll own the first completely muscular 100 pound Brittany HA!  Anyway many thinks for the tips, advice and great puppy.

Tim, Talitha, Tristan, Timmy and finally Tres Bien.

Nov. 17, 2012

I'm writing to let you know that we are still very much in love with our Tres Bien.  He is wonderful and I'm so very happy we spent the time to research the breed and meet with you.  We have kept with his raw chicken diet (60%), other meats and veggies (20%) and kibble (20%) - he's about 45 lbs and solid muscle lol!  Lots of exercise as well with running, hikes and whatever.  I do have a question regarding winter camping though.  We are going to Killarny Provincial Park this February for 3-4 days of winter camping and I was wondering if the cold temperatures might be too much?  I've looked around but haven't been able to find good info.  It could be anywhere from -5 to -25 with snowshoeing and skiing 10+ km per day.  Anyway thanks again for Tres, and your assistance.

Trapper

Hello Barbara;

Trapper is becoming quite comfortable in his new home. He had a good trip home. He had his first backhoe ride yesterday. He wakes up a couple of times in the night but for no length of time and has only messed on the floor once. He follows Dad every where. I have attached a couple of pictures.

Walker

Barbara,

Hello! Hope things are going well. I wanted to send you some pictures. They are pictures from the first week he was here. 8 weeks old. We have taken more but don't have them developed yet. We don't have a digital camera. He weighs about 16 lbs now. He's getting so big! I'm getting to spend a lot of time with him and give him lots of exercise. He loves running. He's 13 weeks old now. I've been working on nipping and he's getting better. It was just puppy stuff. Oh, yeah and we have him potty trained completely. No more accidents. He only had a couple anyway. We're keeping his mouth busy on toys as well. As soon as I get the updated pictures I'll send them to you.

Jeff Marietta, Georgia, USA

Barbara,

I hope things are well. I wanted to let you know how much we are enjoying our Brittany. He just turned two, and he's been a great part of the family. Walker has turned out to be quite the hunter as you can see in the attached photos. My wife and I hope you plan to continue breeding your dogs b/c we plan on contacting you in a couple years for another!

Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Barbara,
The trip back home was great, she only cried for about 20 sec around Shelbourne and slept the rest of the way back to Barrie.  Quiet at first day maybe it was stress but wow what a come back lol.  She is full of energy and funny to watch.  What a little bitter/nibbler must have about 5 chew toys to keep her occupied from my ankles lol. Zena is slowly coming around with the sit and come commands. Taken to the crate from the word go, sleeps/naps, eats and do not have to help her. All at the office love her, one of the girls tried to kidnap my treasure lol took 20 min to clean lipstick lol. I like to thank you very much for this(Zena) bundle of joy. Will send some photos .

Take care

  Born Jan 14, 2011

Dear Barbara

Life is wonderful with Zoe, Mike and I are crazy about her she is so good, she has met everybody in the family and she is very popular...everybody fall in love with her, maybe its because of all those big kisses she gives...
She is so beautiful people stop in their car to ask me about her, she has also met 3 dogs in the family everything went well.  She run twice a day plus I take her for fun walks in the park where she lovers to smell everything and jump in the snow, She let me cut her nail and brush her coat, she now has a round belly she is so cute, we can't imagine our life without her,
The drive home 8 hours was fine she vomit once but mainly slept on my lap or in the transport cage, we did short walks and she drank water.
Oh I slept on the floor beside her crate the 1st night and Mike did it the next night but now she sleeps in her crate beside our bed and she does not complain at all...
She loves to play with her duck and turkey and ball and rope...
Thank you soooooo much Barbara for raising such a wonderful dog, I will send you pictures soon
